I think on the whole, VAT is not added to most foods, but in this case all their prices are exempt or already added, therefore no more VAT to go on in either case.

Thanks for that. I just saw the VAT column in the basket. I didn't actually realise VAT wasn't added to most foods.

There's a fine line regarding VAT and food: If it's a 'luxury', there's more chance of VAT being included in the price - chocolate biscuits yes, chocolate cake no. I don't profess to know much about VAT and food, but there is a test case going on regarding M&S chocolate teacakes. There's also the famous Jaffa cake case - is it a cake? Is it a biscuit?

Hello All,

I have a query - and excuse me if I am being dumb
I have just ordered my second round of food from Approved Food - what a fantastic website! All the products were such great quality I thought I would stock up on nibbles for Christmas.

I just filled my basket - some of the new stuff added is really bargainous - 14 packets of Walkers Ready Salted for £1? Two 2l bottles of Diet Pepsi for £1? Gosh I sound like an advertisement!

Anyway, I got to checkout, put my address in, and the postage address - put in code MSE1 and got the message - thanks for your order you will receive an email - but I didn't put in my card details? Is that because I will be contacted with my new total once the 5% is taken off? I didn't use the MSE code last time because I didn't realise there was one. I am sure I gave my card details straight away last time. I didn't log in (unless it recognised my details and used same card?)

Sorry if I am stating the obvious or this has been spoken about elsewhere
