I *think* when you put an item in your basket and you view your basket the amount shows as zero then it is out of stock. Someone may correct me though, thats just my interpretation of it.

Just tried adding 12 tins of minestrone and it showed up at the correct price in the basket and have tried it on several other items, so the site is still letting you add items to the basket that are out of stock. Since you can order an item without clicking on it for details, and the details page is the only place that says out of stock people could still accidentally order out of stock items, this needs fixing quick or it will annoy new customers and the unwary.
  • ok, my cancelled order came!!!

i've tried ringing AF the whole day but its constantly engaged..

i tried pm'ing dan but his mesage box is full...

i will keep and pay for the order, i invited all of my nieces and nephews around and they had a little tea party... the stuff is great!!!

    very very tasty

but i need to be careful that i dont gain weight

i will be ordering again but more "healthier stuff/toiletries etc..."

    nice one approved foods :)
  • god know whats going on??? You would expect orders to be delt with in order oldest first.

Hence i'm confused why people that have just ordered are receiving goods after less than a week and others have been waiting weeks.

because there orders are small and in stock say AF

I commented about this before to someone who got his stuff quickly recently:

The fact you got your order without hassle is likely because you ordered after the crash as it were, so you didn't order things already out of stock because the flood of new orders ran the stock out and new people ordering the out of stock items without realizing it.

Dan and Approved Foods had their own Stock crash! only the opposite of the Stock Market crash; too much buying as a pose to too much selling!:D

This shows that all the delayed orders are ones with items missing, and it is taking time to sort them out individually. Dan could have just stuck to refunding the missing items, but it seems he didn't want to disappoint customers by making them feel like they were wasting postage, so has gone for replacement. I imagine if it were a few small weight items missing customers wouldn't mind a refund, If customers orders were like mine (with 10 litres of liquid which weighs a bit, and several tinned items); the items being unavailable makes it seem you've wasted postage, so an exchange might seem fairer to the customer. So it looks like he decided he should contact them separately to offer exchange.

    Although I could be wrong:
I wasn't offered a substitute Tricki1, I got a refund notification, so I'm not sure he is doing what you think he is

I was making an educated guess based on what others have said here, It might depend on what items you were missing, what he had in stock at the time, what the cash or weight difference was, etc etc.
Not a psychic so don't the reason for the decision in your individual case, but Dan has used up a hell of a lot of new stock, so much that new stuff is already out of stock, so he must be doing a lot of replacements for whatever reason.

  • Just went to the af site as I had meant to place an order a couple of weeks ago and everything I looked at was showing out of stock when you go to the specific item! what a shame, lets hope things get sorted there soon, I think I will definitely leave it a month or so and take another look then..

Well done to all those who have got stuff.

Give dan a chance, if you could be bothered to read all the other posts you will see loads of other people who are more than happy with what is happening. Like with any expanding company, you get teething problems. Just be patient all good things will come to those who wait. ,,,,,,,,.

You seem to have misunderstood my point (which was to suggest to Dan that he focus on getting customer communications done well) and just because "other people" MIGHT be "more than happy" does not mean I have to follow the flock.
The communication between myself and Approved Foods since my order placement on 17th January is as below and the last message received from them was on Monday 26th which is nearly 5 days ago.
I would prefer to receive an email with information that accurately reflects the status of my order, not another standardised message as sent to everyone else with a false/overoptimistic promise of "Should be despatched in the next couple of days"!
So, I've been patient, have been told "the next couple of days" and it's now twice that estimate with no further contact by either email or phone since then.
Remember that I am the 'customer' which means I am not being done a 'favour' by the supplier and the onus is on them to make an effort to contact me.
If they are genuinely "working 24/7" then I feel that they have got their priorities wrong because as per my previous post communication is the most important thing.

Hello, I know that you're very busy! :-) I'm not desperate for delivery and don't want to unecessarily add to your workload, but would like to be able to plan to be around to receive it from the carrier. Wishing you continued success with the business! Thanks, ******* (Mobile tel. 07********** )

    Hi

Your order should be shipped within the next couple of days. As its shipped you will get an email from DHL
I’m sorry it’s taken so long to process, but after unbelievable press coverage last week in the papers, money saving expert.com, radio and TV there was a large jump in sales that we weren’t prepared for. I’ve set and 20 staff, leased a new warehouse and are working 24 / 7 in am attempt to correct problems like this happening again
I’m trying my best to get your order to you as quick as possible but I fully understand if you would like to cancel your order. If you do wish to cancel please call me up on 078******** and I’ll sort it straight away.
    Many Thanks

    Dan

There is nothing wrong with the customer communication.Once your goods are dispatched you will receive the email from DHL and you can track the goods yourself.

If you don't like the way they communicate may I suggest you buy your cheaper goods elsewhere.

Dan is not doing any "favours" for you all he has to do is to ship the goods to you .He does not need to tell you when the goods are coming. You can find that for yourself.
