Yes could Google it, all the items I ordered I did unless I already knew, or ordering for someone else.
Sometimes not that easy, was trying to find info on Sugar Free - Red Band - Sweet Enoughs but got nothing but news sites talking about the new range, none of which had the company website. A search for leaf uk, leaf inc and leaf confectionary inc all ended up with a mass of sites looked at with no joy and a mass of open tabs threatening to overload my browser.
Ok !!!! it I thought, its not work the effort. One potential purchase gone, when a list of or at least photo of ingredients would have got me the purchase (if veggie ofc).
I agree its a bit of work for the company, so perhaps we could help voluntarily to find links for an item hard to quickly Google. I sort of forgot the stock isn't always constant as well so more work than needed.0 -
on APF website, you can leave comments about foods, rate it etc, or add additional comments - perhaps people that have already bought and tryed products could put what its like, or say i a veg and its suitable for me etc...0

However whilst waiting for the beans some items have gone out of stockFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

Great Idea, I'm going to start doing this tomorrow, tracking down a few items tracking down ingredients list or link to websites. The review has a star system and its not fair to have to give a rating just to provide information, so ill give it a five but state just information and not a review. If others do this might take the workload off Dan while hes busy.
If nothing else it will help keep my mind off the doom and gloom of the credit crunch0 -

Website said have to be a member. I've registered (didn't ask to supply password) but the email I have received doesn't mention a password, and the review thing requires a password. Might have to be done manually so ill wait till tomorrow and see. Too tired to mess around now.0 -
Am I the only one that's getting disillusioned here? It seems that the furry toy has grown into a hairy monster. Don't get me wrong - I'm pleased for Dan et al, but is it still for me? Whyme on post 1481 above has been waiting 17 days, I've had problems with DHL and missing goods, and my order looks like it's going to be well short of what I want by the time my turn comes around. It makes the delivery charge proportionately more for what will have been delivered.
When the beans go on, it will probably increase the orders significantly so a 12 day wait (more, I suspect by the aforementioned post) will turn into a 15... 20... 30 day wait. The items out of stock can only worsten. What happens when we're teased with our next popular mega offer... spaghetti, tinned fruit or even tinned dogfood?
I'm thinking about taking this thread off my subscribed list, taking ApprovedFood off my bookmark list, and coming back after a month or two to see what progress has been achieved. At least a new real-time system may have been implemented by then.
I invite your counter-opinions.0 -

If you take a house suitable for a small family but overnight have to barrack the queens regiment in it you have an idea on how sudden growth causes more than a few problems until to continue the metaphor, the house owner builds a suitable extension. I could have continued the metaphor to how people sort out conflicts etc, but would have ended up rather silly
Point is yes, its inevitable that temporarily there are going to be difficulties until the company invests in the things that will allow it to meet its new level of demand, so coming back later and looking at how the company is doing is sensible as you cannot judge the quality of service while it is going through its growing pains. Also its a few less orders overloading the system.
As to it becoming a hairy monster, personally I think the growth could change the company a little, but from what I have gauged from comments here, Dan is really a small business man who is really helpful to customers, doesn't appear to have a profit is everything attitude or apt to use devious and manipulative marketing practices. To me the site is transparent and the reasons for the bargains honestly stated, and after being ripped off and manipulated lots of times before I clued up, I am always very cynical, so am always pleased when I find an example of good practice when every other shop marks up items to stupid levels, makes offers that turn out to be incredibly deceptive, and so on ad infinitum.
Dan might lose a little touch with customers with so many to deal with, but I doubt it will end up some faceless company with someone with a small businessman's mentality at the helm. This is only my opinion of course, so if he ends up just another greedy store owner after the flush of success, don't blame me for being optimistic for a change.
So greatgimp, by all means come back later when the teething problems are sorted, I myself am not making another purchase until the backlog is sorted out so I don't add to the flood, but I have confidence that approved foods will do very well.0
