I take the good with the bad....at the very least, it improves my knowledge.
Some posts I do think are over personal but then that is the nature of forums really, sometimes a comment meant in humour can be taken the wrong way or someone will know another and make comments that the other person will find funny but others think are being nasty.
I do sometimes ponder on having a different user name where I can ditch the nicey nicey me and become the raging mad woman who says what she thinks but I would soon resort to being nicey nicey me again as I hate thinking that I have hurt someones feelings! :rotfl:
Mind you, I think I will have to stop posting on threads which talk about social housing....I am starting to sound like a broken record
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

The trouble with social housing is that while in the past "everyday people" got them, these days in many areas this is simply not the case. Increasingly it's just the scum, which means that people who grew up in lovely old-fashioned social housing, with a community and good neighbours, don't see what happens in other areas.

We only know our own experiences. And things have changed a lot in many areas in the last 10-20 years.
I grew up (until 10) in a council house. Nice area, in the time we lived there the only movement was in the house next to ours, we had one troublesome family who had naughty twins (skived off school and would throw eggs at our house), but back in those days their mum gave them a clip round the ear and it didn't happen again. The rest of the time I pretty much had a Famous Five style life around there (I was 2-10, so that's a radius of 200 yards). I bet now it's not so good!0 -
Yep agree with that and to be honest, before I became a social housing tenant, I would spout off like a lot of others on here (I was brought up in strictly middle class surroundings in an owned home).
It was the same for single parents on benefits - Blimey, I was the worlds worst at calling them the scourge of society, the lowest of the low...and then I became one.
It is all about our own personal experiences though, my home is on a small council estate (although now owned by a housing association) but it is in a quiet, fairly refined area, so we don't get to see the real trouble that others experience.
It's just I hate being lumped in as being scum just because I happen to be in my situation but I do try to temper in that for others, their experience of social housing will be different to mine.We made it!
