If you want a to encode MP3's just use Windows Media Player 10, set it to rip as WMA files which this little Medion recognises, WMA is smaller and an higher quality alternative to MP3.

I've just returned from Somerfield in Ryton (Tyne & Wear) and they've got plenty left and they're still scanning at 24.99. It's the version with the card slot too.
