Try this dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) for starters.

Something to bear in mind though - this has always been highly recommended as a free MP3 ripper/converter but the MP3 encoder portion is now only a 30 day trial, after that you have to pay :-(

Fair point. I have had dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) for years and I don't know how much users now have to pay after the trial period.

  • use windows media player but change the option to mp3?
  • Thanks to Bubba_Shaboo, found one in Kwik Save in Liverpool, Smithdown Road. This will be great for the gym, especially the lanyard headphones that come with it. How do I thank you to 'clock up' your 'thanked' counter? (if that makes any sense!)

Thanks to the OP for the heads up on this one. Just bought one and well impressed for the price. Has two headphone sockets so can plug both kids in on long journeys and enjoy the peace....

    Cheers

  • anyone know if there are any in West Yorkshire stores as would like to get one tomorrow !!

    thanks
  • Brilliant find. Just what I have been looking for.

My wife bought two today (one for each of us) from Somerfield in Larkhall , Scotland - they had loads of them left - Got the dyson Vacuum from them the other day aswell because of mse - fantastic buys.

As for the MP3 player - it certainly doesnt feel the quality of my philips one that cost £19.99 for 128mb in the summer (again courtesy of mse via richer sounds), however the features on it are excellent. Sound quality is fantastic and there is even a microphone for recording voice memo's (havent tried it tho).

It also works with the free program MusicMatch Jukebox which I use to play and record ALL of my music - its fab - so good I even bought the lifetime subscription as it lets you record in MP3 pro and speeds up the ripping times to up to 52x, however I generally get about 25x tho. Anyway a real bonus that this can work with it - as it was the reason I never bought an ipod in the first place.

    Thanks again

    ali
