    Is this for real?!
I used to watch this program (yes, I know. I am deeply ashamed). At the time, the bullish attitudes suited the market. They clearly do not suit the market now...... but I'm forgetting that this is a one trick pony.

K & P were just glorified estate agents with personality (at least Kirsty has personality)who were in the right place at the right time, and the series was quite entertaining. They actually made an offer on my flat on behalf of a client, before they became famous. I liked Kirsty, (as did my dog!) less so Phil, who kindly informed me that the flat was worth no more than X per square foot. I turned down the offer as everyone seemed to be loading their prices by about £40,000 even then (2002-3). Phil didn't argree with my concerns that asking prices were getting inflated. Just as well I chose to ignore his advice, otherwise I would have found myself out of my flat and unable to find a replacement at the price.

So true!! Why can't talent shows be talent shows anymore? Why do most of them have to contain celebrities? Don't they have other jobs? Plus when you get the not-yet famous on TV programmes like the X Factor many are already acting like divas.

Phil and Kirsty at least had a property company, but !!!!!! did Amanda Lamb have to do with property beforehand? She was a Scottish Widow! My background is in (commercial) property research and there are some great and knowledgeable people in the market, so why aren't they quoted. And while I'm on my soapbox, why do the doing up houses programmes end up with people who are ex-hairdressers or have fine art degrees rather than, er interior designers and architects!

    Rant over, blood pressure up...

As you are offering I will have a Nobel Prize please. That comes with nearly £850k and you get to meet a Scandinavian king.:D I don't think you get any of that with Z-Factor.

Listerned to the Radio 1 show with them today. I felt like punching things as they continue to ramp property encouraging people who couldn't afford it to jump in now. They truely have a vested interest in talking the market up.

They were even telling people it was pointless to wait for prices to fall further and that prices would start rissing in the next few months.

you're going to miss the boat Brit - rates have never been this low and prices have not been this low for a while either.

you don't want to be logged on this site in 12 years time like the other HPCers who missed the original HPI and are beeching now about it...
  • I'll preceed this post by admitting that I like P&K and their theories on the market make sense to me, but that's not why I am posting ....
they're all bloody actors! ( I swear it!).

Not all of them - I know a couple who appeared and they were genuine house hunters. But maybe some are ...

They were never Estate Agents, and they didn't work together until recently ... ? Kirstie had her own, seperate company.

As for the 20 year old looking for a BTL on Radio 1, why was that such bad advice ? I don't get it ?

Ok, they were relocation agents, handling 'estate'. Relocation agents are a species of estate agent, non?

They certainly were working together when I met them.
Can't remember the exact year - had a hand written note from Kirsty in her big, spidery black ink, but sadly it went into the bin at some stage. It was quite a while before the TV series. At the time I was fed up with the in-block politics over major works (circa 2002-3) and responded to a flyer from a local agent. I stated that I might be interested to sell if I could cover my costs to obtain £X. Next thing, they had tipped off Kirsty & Phil. At least they were trying to obtain the best price for their client of the time, which is what they did throughout the series.

The tv series started in 2001. I know they both had property finding services before the show began, but I don't know if they went into business together before or after they started working on the show.

Right, it must have been 2000, 2001 then, (the major works horror story started in 2000 but went on until 2002). For sure they were in association before the series, although I don't know if it was yet official or not.
