I posted in another thread that mine is a FTB that doesn't mature til the new year so I'm fairly relaxed about the lack of 2nd email. I also said it would make sense for the FSCS team to leave Fixes that haven't matured for later batches as the peeps could hardly moan as they weren't originally planning on accessing yet anyhow (I cant remeber if Icesave had early closure option). Having read most of the posts I didn't notice any declared FTB claimants. Is this what the FSCS are doing? - or has some got theirs but haven't said it was FTB?

However peeps could moan that they were no longer receiving the monthly interest payments on their fixed accounts. Maybe even relying on them to live on.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • Theres's a poll somewhere that asks what type of account you had, I think it was for 2nd emailers only, so it should tell you.

Ok, no more jesting, I got my invitation email at 09:24 this morning (yes Saturday) and have done the deed.

No gloating, just a comment that if good things happen to people as cynical and pessimistic as me, it must happen to you, hopefully soon! This group has been a great support, thanks :A

The Icesave cookie is identified as 'icesave.co.uk' on my CCleaner program.

After deleting it, I was able to enter the site and go to the login page. I did experience it as being extremely slow, though. I did not attempt to login, having done my business a day or so ago. But I reckon, having got that far, I could have logged in.

Additionally, it seems to me that the FSCS people are making everyone go to the login section through a route, which makes them have to read all the notices and instructions. Thus I don't really feel it matters much, whether you have the cookie or not, to do this.

If you do have the cookie, then that is about the only way I know of them being able to tell whether or not you have accessed the site before. The machine you use will have its own address through its ISP, but this also has to be irrelevant as Icesave customers must surely be allowed to make their claim from any computer connected to the internet.

But there again, who am I to be really able to say what they are doing or not? They might even be using silent black helicopters.
  • Got the second email on Wednesday and requested my money back at around 6pm ~ it was safely back in my linked account this morning when I checked. :T

I hope it works as smoothly for everyone.

Lucky you! I also got the email on Weds, and claimed at about 9pm that evening. Haven't received the money back yet. Perhaps I should get all paranoid, or angry about the unfairness of you receiving your money before me.....

TBH, wasn't really expecting it before next Tues. I'm sure it will be there within the next few days, but it sure will be reassuring actually to have it!

Claimed Wednesday lunchtime, received in my Nationwide account today, Monday. Relief! :j

Notwithstanding the lack of interest, how do you quantify the stress and anxiety caused by this sorry episode? My attitude to life, banks and, let's face it, Martyn Lewis, will never be the same again.

Thanks for the support and shared experiences and information on this board. Hope everyone gets sorted asap.

  • Well my wife & I received the emails on Wednesday.

Logged into her account around 7pm and dealth with her 5 accounts, one of which was fixed. Received emails the next day and money received into the linked accounts today!!!

I did not login until after 9pm as had to eat after kids put to bed and received emails the next day. However have received no of the money for my accounts, though maybe this is because I processed it too late in the evening and it missed the run the next day. Hopefully will receive the money tomorrow.

Not to mention Iceland. It won't be seeing any of my tourist pounds in a hurry.

    BTW Where is Mr. Lewis?
