  • I have to say well done for being able to withraw your money and thansk for letting us know how the process went. I'm waiting for my e-mail now but it will come.

I must say, I have been very impressed with how the FSCS have handled this. Bare in mind that Icesave only went bust just over a month ago and they have already got payments on the way. As well as this they have covered people above £50,000 and honoured the first £16,000 before Iceland have paid up.

I hope the people who were getting VERY irate after 1-2 weeks are grateful for the hard work the FSCS have put in. I was expecting it to take 3 months, as is allowed by EU law.

Once I have my money, I will be writing them a thank you letter.

Wow! That must be nearly 20 now. At this rate I should get my 'compensation' around the middle of 2015.

Indeed, I think people saying how wonderful it's all been aren't exactly being OBJECTIVE ;)
By the way "China in your hand" seems quite appproriate T'pau, given they're about the only country with a net amount of money saved at present.....

...to the lucky 2nd e mail "winners" were your accounts open in early 2008...thanks ed

Mine was opened early Feb 08. Have had the 2nd email and doen the transfer. Effortless really.
Hubbie opened his in mid March 08 - cos NS and I cocked up the transfer ( but that's another story) and hasn't had the 2nd email yet.
I suppose they could be doing it in order of when the accounts were opened?
With 200,000 to get through you would have thought they would have some sort of order process they are following.
  • Second email.

And 20k on its way. ;)
  • No second email yet but happy to wait, I'm sure it will come in it's own sweet time.
Well done to the FSCS for everything you have done so far, you deserve to be congratulated.
  • I am one of the lucky ones who have received the 2nd email, but had a quick question.

I only have an ISA with Icesave and have got a linked bank account. When I click on the initiate button it tells me to confirm my nominated account and then click on confirm to start the process.

    1. Does that mean that all of my ISA will be transferred to my current account (nominated) and I will receive a certificate through the post which will prove that it should be tax exempt?

    2. Or is the process supposed to just send me a certificate - in effect a cheque which I can deposit with another provider?

I do not want to transfer this to my current account (1) and then find out that I have lost all of my tax free status.

This is my first post so sorry if it is in the wrong place. I have recieved my second e-mail and claimed, at the time I noticed that the account number I have on file, which is definitely correct (8 numbers long) has a number of zeros at the start (looks like icesave were expecting a longer number) and this has now got me a bit worried! Is this usual or have I made a mistake?

Transfer it to your nominated account and at some future point you get a certificate

or alternately you can transfer it to mine and I will send you a thank you card :D

Your right in (1) it trnasfers the cash, as per the email

" For ISA holders, the same process will apply as for instant access account holders. An ISA certificate will follow by post to allow you to reinvest that sum in an ISA with another provider. The money you held in your ISA will not lose its tax-free status if you reinvest by 5 April 2009. You should receive your ISA certificate within 2 weeks of claiming compensation using the electronic process and you will have to give this certificate to your new ISA provider when you open your ISA with them. You should ask for an ISA transfer form from your new ISA provider."
