Whats been your coal usage so far this year?
A ton usually does me, but I've gone through 2, and I've ordered another 5 sacks for tomorrow:mad: I just hope the truck can get up my drive in all this snow:eek: Climate change means our winters will be getting colder so I intend to take advantage of any summer prices and stock up.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
We use two bags a week in winter and one in summer though that depends on the weather. Last May was really warm here in N Ireland and we only needed one bag each fortnight, but then it rained throughout almost all of July and August and got pretty chilly at times so it was back to a couple of bags again. I work from home so we tend to keep a fire on most days, except for the hot weather (sadly in short supply over here).
We're still paying £16 a bag and the coal isn't all that great; I've a feeling it's the low-grade stuff again. And although we sweep the chimney regularly, last night it caught fire, though thankfully we got it under control before it had time to do any damage. It's at times like this - coal at sky-high prices and sparks flying out of the chimney - that we wonder if the pleasure and comfort of an open fire is worth it.0 -

Thats fine if you have a multifuel/woodburner stove, but what about if you have a standard open fire?
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -
