Defrosting turkey

I bought a frozen Finest Free Range turkey in Tescos today and brought it home to store in the Freezer for a couple of days in time to defrost for Christmas lunch, however when I got it home it was too big to fit in the upright freezer drawers so I have put it in a roasting in and put it in the fridge with the thermostat on its coldest. Do you think it will be okay until Christmas Eve, when I intend to cook it? I am a bit bothered about it!Jane

Is it still frozen? If so you could take one of the drawers out of the freezer and create some more space?
It should say on how long it will take to defrost in the fridge, 72 hours?Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
What is the use by date on it? It should say use within ## days of defrosting, and if you are defrosting a large bird in the fridge, it will take a few days (especially if you turn the temp on the fridge up (or should that be down!!?)) to defrost, so you might be ok.0

We have had to take out the middle drawer in ours a few times as Jay-Jay suggested. It still stays frozen in there without the drawer front.0

Hi RS, I did the same thing a couple of years ago - here is my non-pc solution (it worked!!!) put mine in the garden shed as it was so cold out there.....I'm sure yours will be just fine - all you gotta do is make sure its cooked through when the time comes....best...Mx0

It should be okay as it will take a couple of days to defrost in the fridge anyway (dependant on size obviously)
If you are worried..why don't you cook it when it does defrost, slice it and then reheat in microwave on the day. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
I'll be buying my frozen turkey tomorrow (Thursday) and defrosting it inside a cool box in the shed. I'll be cooking it on Christmas eve morning.Just run, run and keep on running!0

Just a reminder for those who have forgotten! Get your turkey out of the freezer! Do not put it in a bath of hot water etc etc. Thaw it out at room temperature.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
