The door seal may just need a similar fix if the inner plastic sheet stopping water coming through has broken/been taken off?

It has an inner plastic sheet - inside the door panel??? Possibly been removed/broken then - dad said the car has been done up at some point (I've not had it very long). The door where it leaks has a bit of a stiff window so someone has probably messed about with it in the past I'd guess.

Dad used to do all that kind of thing for me but can't now because of health/sight problems, so don't like to ask him too much in case he thinks I'm asking him to do it.

How would it leak inside the boot though?? Can't see it dripping from anywhere and it's only wet round one wheel arch.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • I think also, you could try those 'water lock' crystal things that they sell in garden centres to mix in with your soil for potted plants - I'll bet that those would do a very similar thing.

Have you checked the coolant level to ensure it isn't a leak from the heater matrix?

Unless you lift up the carpet they wont do much to the water underneath though.

There should be a sealed plastic sheet between the metal of the door and the door card (the inner trim with handles etc on). If not, then the water will just be dripping in through the bottom of the door rather then out throught the drain-off holes in the bottom of the outer edge of the door.

The boot may have a poor seal on one side, possible where the seal joins as it's rarely a one-piece seal but a strip cut to length.

Good shout, but you'd hope not on a fairly new car like the 307?!

I'm just making suggestions around what he originally requested, which are cushions that soak up water! No need to shoot down every idea!

Besides, I reckon, if you point the fans down to your feet, stick the car heater onto hot and high, it would help to pull the moisture out of the floor - in which case, the silica bead can soak it up from the air! :)

Lay a newspaper over the footwell overnight and replace as necessary. The heater will do the rest.

I check it regularly. No problem there.

Sorry if I seemed harsh :o I was just thinking that the beads are an 'expense' to the OP as he'd have to buy them from a garden store. The air-con is free and should do the same job. It is MSE after all ;)
