No I wouldn't, but I have ....or should I say would, let their tyres down!0

If they are stupid enough to block someone in they deserve it. You don't know what emergency may arise and they've blocked someone's only way out.
I've done it, and for those who are worried about damaging your car, rather than "bump", I would suggest pushing as then the worst your car is likely to suffer from is a "graze" which can be easily repaired even by yourself.
I travel quite alot in between my businesses and have no sympathy for people blocking others in. You can't tell me you don't know you've done it as most people look at their parking before walking away from their car, or have to come back to their car to put the ticket inside.
The moral dilemma should be with the inconsiderate one blocking you in.0 -
The bumpers on most modern cars are nothing more than cosmetic pieces of body coloured trim which offer no real protection against bumps and mark at the slightest touch. So if the other car is old and yours is one of the typical modern 'style over substance' designs then it will probably be your car which comes off the worst.
Shame cars don't have proper bumpers like the ones on old Volvos.

This is the exact reason i always keep a tube of no nails (other similar products available) if i can't go anywhere then they are going nowhere either when their doors have somehow become stuck solid!0

I done this the other day. I was sitting in my van at the time and some stupid !!!!! parked so close I could just about get out but not without touching her front bumper.

We had this problem last week with an old gentleman whom shall remain nameless..
Our two artics had been doing bulk deliveries to a tight yard, and reversed in no problems. After they had tipped off they went to drive out of the tight right hander to find the same Mercedes E-class abandoned on the corner, meaning our trucks were stuck on a customers site, with more waiting to get in....
Because it's on private land, the traffic wardens are powerless to do anything, and the police couldn't and didn't want to know (as usual!!!)
We coundn't find the owner after 30 minutes, and he was blocking access to the industrial estate, so we ended up sliding two chep pallets under the merc, and lifting it away using the forklift truck:rotfl: :rotfl: . The old man came back 2.5 hours later thinking his car was nicked. We had moved it to a better parking spot, but only 6ft higher up using old pallets!! We charged him £100 to get his car lifted back down off the pallets as a "vehicle removal fee".
He never parks there again - nobody dares!!!0 -
Well done. Seriously. We need a lot more of that.0

I was recently blocked in by a charming gentlemen who had obviously taken offence to me parking outside his house in a standard residential street. He had a car in front and behind of me, giving me a total of about 3 feet to get out.
After struggling to get two young children into the car and the buggy into the boot I started to inch out, at which point he got into the car behind me and started reversing into the space I was vacating! I couldn't /believe/ the pettiness.
I'm tempted to pop to the local car auction, but 3 cheap old bangers and leave them outside his house.
Did anyone settle on a legal standpoint on this? Does being intentionally blocked in like this constitute theft? Hijack? Kidnap? Where does one legally stand if you physically cannot get your car out without causing damage and they refuse to move?0 -
Interesting thread, I think if I did get boxed in and leaning on the horn didn't get results then I'd have a go at pushing other cars out of the way. Because the truck is a lot taller than other vehicles this might cause body damage however (and there's a towbar on the back). On the other hand if I came back home and found someone parked across the drive I'd be very tempted to put straps around the axles and tow it away as far as I could!0

Neighbour had a car blocking his drive, not taxed, and he needed to get to hospital. One tractor later, towed car to a nearby lane, phoned police about abandoned car.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
