I installed Avira on a laptop running vista last weekend. I have limited computer ability and managed it easily. Managed to remove the free trial of macafee as well.
This weekends task is to remove AVG from my main desktop and install avira.
Download avira, then switch the internet off, then remove AVG, then install avira from the download, then switch the internet back on.
Am an IT novice.
The first dialogue box which comes up during the download asks whether I want to run or save.
Sorry to ask what is probably a daft question but which do I click?0 -

well if you click RUN, it automatically runs once its downloaded
If you click SAVE, it saves it to your hard drive ready for when YOU want to open and run it:idea:0 -

Ok, Avira seems to be successfully installed. Have done the first scan which has taken half the time AVG used to take.
One thing I need and that is a desktop icon to bring up the programme. I have tried to create a shortcut but that seems to have given me a piddly little button on the windows toolbar.
Anyone able to help, please?0 -
Just double click the icon bottom right (Looks like a red umbrella)
if you MUST have one, goto the program list (bottom left), find Avira, right click and COPY, then PASTE to your desktop:idea:0
