    Rzl,

I am LOVING the opera dvd's, its my afternoon treat to sit and watch for an hour with a cuppa and a piece of cake, I love them :T .

Well I have washed two loads which are now blowing on the line, hoovered through and mopped floors, cleaned bathroom and kitchen. Little dog has been up the beach, which was flipping freezing, and I have put the chops in the sc, and picked cabbage spinich and carrots from the garden.

Made some rhubarb flapjack, the flapjack recipe was from the back of the porridge box, and I added the rhubarb keeping my fingers crossed that it would work, it did its delish :D

Kathy nice to see you posting, please come back, I miss you.

Dorry and elona, my kitchen is always clean, and I do cook a lot, its just I have a touch of OCD :o , and can't relax if its untidy :D

My thought are with those brave people who fought for us.

Thanks, RedRuby - I am reading every day but not posting so much because I'm not very good at staying 'on topic'!

Now that I'm here, I'll say what our dinner is tonight. We are having mince done with mushrooms and onions in gravy, roast potatoes and courgettes (in the Remoska, of course), then bread-and-butter pudding for afters.

The weather has been lovely today - such a change from the wet windy stuff yesterday. I even pegged the washing out and it's almost dry.

Right then, back to writing out the Christmas cards! I'm almost done - the earliest ever for me!

DD(19) has jst phoned me to say that everyone in the student house loved the hob nobs I dropped off at the weekend. Promised to make some more next time we saw her. She enjoyed the home made bread too but did not have a breadknife so that was fun.

    Thanks twink!

I did not have porage oats so had to use some sachets of oatsosimple instead, one of them was apple so with added ginger and cinnamon it worked out really well.

Need to brave the rain to pick up prescription and might make spanish omelet for tea as it's nice and quick.

    :hello: good afternoon!

I couldn't post earlier due to a "screen freeze" so thought I'd try again!

    Before I forget -

tired mum - many congratulations to your DS!:j

mrs_mix - glad you are feeling better, but your poor DD! I hope you are wrong about glandular fever, but of course it would be a relief just to have a diagnosis atm. Best wishes to her.

Churchmouse - hope the moving day went okay! And that your DS will have nice neighbours.

    Pippa S. - Happy Birthday!:bdaycake:

Kiwichick - how very nice to hear from you! Welcome back!

Hester - how did you get on at the doctor's?

I haven't been on here for a few days as both our little grandchildren are ill so I've been helping DD with them. Both have ear and throat infections, and DGD (10 mo) has a chest infection as well. DSIL took her to the GP on Thursday and she didn't need antibiotics at that time, but she got worse over the weekend and was quite wheezy. She has a Ventolin inhaler, but hates it, and screams so much that it's impossible to get it to form a seal over her nose and mouth. (The doctor said to DD when she mentioned the difficulty with it "Well, obviously in that case you'll have to use it when she's asleep!" - but she wakes up every time.) DGS 2yo has been on "Penicillin V", and apart from the fact that he hates the taste, it seems to make him really hyper  - I think it must be the red colouring in it - so DD will ask for something different for him another time. He was so clingy yesterday, Nanny wouldn't do, it had to be Mummy, so it's just as well that DGD was willing to make do with Nanny:p We took her to the doctor yesterday in all that lovely weather, such fun.

So what with one thing and another, yesterday's dinner was fish and chips - but I did enjoy it!

Made a really tasty dinner on Sunday though - roasted veg (peppers, butternut squash, onion and potatoes), with pork chops cooked in the same roasting tin. Yum! It's really nice with lamb chops/cutlets too. It took a bit of time prepping the veg, but after that it was really easy as everything was in the one tin and all of it ready together.

Tonight's dinner is, I'm afraid to say, going to be a ready meal :o , as I'm not really up to cooking today and the only "HM ready meal" in the freezer is bolognese, and it's only a few days since we last had that.

Planning cottage pie for tomorrow, and gammon on Thursday.

all for now, best wishes to you all,

    ivyleaf xx

    Evening All
Just a quick one to wish Kathy all the best for work tomorrow. I loved my job but would hate to have to work now. I couldn't even be bothered to get dressed up and put the slap on, never mind do a day's work.
I too sniffled through the 2 minutes silence, my DS is a soldier but he's a musician so thankfully hasn't been sent anywhere dangerous for a long time. He did his bit in the 1st Gulf War.
Shepherds pie for tea, I made 3 so a good day today. Of course DH will purse his lips, draw in his breath and shake his head when I ask him to put 2 in the freezer lol.
Hugs if you need one, congrats where appropriate and enjoy the evening.
  • Evening all!!

Haven't posted in the daily in AGES!!! Thought I'd post today as trying to get back to being as old style as possible and save some money, all the more important now I am an especially skint student!

We haven't thrown food away in ages and I'm so pleased with this. Made loads of banana bread and muffins yesterday with almost-walking bananas, most luscious!! Made some bread and been making soups etc.

This afternoon I have separated a notebook up into sections and have done an inventory of all the food we have in the two freezers, larder and cupboards. From now on a meal plan will be done with this in the other hand!! This I think will come in sooo handy for us. I'm hoping we can get away with just spending a tenner a week on food shopping for a bit.

Have been scouting for some cheapy recipes too and have been writing these down!!

I really love being old style, I always feel happy when I'm doing my OS bits and pieces!! Even got some of my 18 year old uni buddies making soup!! They were so surprised at how cheap, quick and easy it was!!

My new flat is fab, really love it. And the nice thing is that when we moved in I was able to sort out all my junk so now I'm not doing too badly!! It's quite nice cohabiting!! Quite strange though after living on my own for 7 years!!

Loads of laundry done, flat tidied and got my dad and brother and boyf's mum and sister round for dinner tonight, we're having saucy sausage pasta with salad and garlic bread! Yummy!! Am going to make enough so that I've got 2 portions to freeze as well.

Hugs and postive thoughts to all

    Hello everyone,
Thank you all for you good wishes for my birthday :A
I have had a lovely day, OH took me to Stow-on-the-Wold, as I wanted to go to their group of shops...I just love wandering round them and dont get there very often as its a good distance down the motorway, worth it though. :D
We also went to Shipston-on-Stour to a little antique shop we went to ages
ago. I saw a ring in there I liked but didnt buy it, then got home and regretted it, and guess what.... he bought it for me, its not a mega expensive one but I just loved it the first time I saw it. So that was my birthday pressie, I am so lucky.
We finally got to have lunch at 3:30 at the Red Lion at Alvechurch, very nice it was too.

Wannabesybil Its nice to know you are knitting, and anything you make as Kathy said will be appreciated by either Loving Hands or Preemies UK.
