Happy Birthday to Pippa.S - have a great day!
Wannabesybil - the best places to send knitted items to at the moment are www.lovinghands.org.uk and PreemiesUK, but your local hospital will always welcome knitted hats and so on. Most of us on the Knit Your Square thread have joined Loving Hands. Oh, there's also one called bonniebabies, too, that are looking for baby items. I'll see if I can find the link. Here it is www.bonniebabies.co.uk. Each of these sites has forums, patterns, loads of info and photos.

It's a blustery Armistice Day in Yorkshire, watched ceremony, very moving (one of my grandads served in both wars, the other in WW2), chickenpox baby feeling very sorry for himself (only 17 months!), no OS yet today! DH home for lunch shortly, so if baby naps later I'll crack on with something.
Still need to do Christmas cards, make Christmas lists, etc.
Chicken & sausages to use up for tea - something Spanish with chicken, got spuds, pepper & mushrooms to use, & teenage DS can have sausages. Need to bake, everyone's been looking for nibbles!
Try to get back later this afternoon.
Love n hugs if you need them!

I have p.m.d you with some info.
Washing is on the line and hoping it does not rain, washing machine is on again with towels etc. Spent ages cleaning the double sinks wth boiling water and bio washing powder as DD (14) very sweetly does this for me but only does one of them and boiling water does not enter the equation. Also cleaned gas hob as it gets messy every time I use it. Have decided people with immaculate kitchens must either live on "Ping" meals or be obssessive about cleaning.
Made low carb brunch in the Remoska for me and DH and will need to bake another loaf or rolls for later.
Still racking my brains for ideas for tea- might get turkey mince and make home made burgers.
Need to post a book I sold through amazon and collect prescription this afternoon.
Thinking of penny pincher and hope everything goes well for her.

Hi all :hello:
Wasn't going to post today as not very OS but just had to say hello to kiwichick :hello: :j :j - what a blast from the past. It's lovely to hear from you again! Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment, lots of people are, and the sensible ones post on hereHave a look at the "If things get tougher?" thread and also the "Trying hard to OldStyle but the prices keep going up" one.
I was pleased with myself last night. I had been out but I got home about 11:30, and before I went to bed I managed to make a big tray of chicken pasta bake to use up the remainder of the chicken I cooked on Saturday. I need to make a stock with the bones overnight tonight. I was going to do it last night but when I turned the tap on nothing happened  I called the Thames Water 24h helpline and asked what was going on, and was told there were overnight works in my area. Luckily it was all back to normal by the time I got up this morning. The dishwasher was on at the time, and I suspect the water ran out halfway through as there are a few more suds in there than you'd expect at the end of the wash  so I didn't unload it, and hopefully should be able to sort it by just running the rinse cycle when I get home tonight.
Off out again this eveningAs ever, I've got an opera ticket through a cheap deal. I know a couple of the singers so am looking forward to a couple of beers afterwards. Tomorrow I'm out AGAIN, but then life quietens down for a couple of weeks - I can't wait! I prefer staying in to going out, but there's just so much to do in London and so little time in which to do it.
How are you getting on with those opera DVDs redruby? I've been archiving a few more recordings onto DVD for my own purposes and will send anything I think you'll like
Hugs to PP and anybody else in need.

Just wanted to make something clear because I am worried that people think I am breaking the rules of the thread when I start it. At the moment I am living part of my life upside down...
I have a friend in America who is not well - so I go to bed early about 4 nights a week (around 10pm) and then I get back up again at around 3am and talk to him online til around 7.30am/8am when I go back to bed for a few hours.
My partner works as a DJ Th/Fr/Sat so he comes home around 0400-0430, and goes right to bed, and then sleeps til middayish when I am getting back up again too!
So, long boring explanation, but I had a pm yesterday from someone who seemed to think I was starting the thread under false pretences and it upset me a little.
Diva.x
MSD Please dont be upset by some sad little !!!!!! who has no life and nothing better to do than check up on what everyone else is doing. Why do people have to be so flaming petty by sending snidey pm's?
Remembrance Sunday has me in tears every year.

Crab apple jelly with chilli now all in jars, looks lovely on the window sill, such a lovely colour!
Chucked some more choc muffins in the moski, should keep them happy when they get in from school! Think I've got a few extra for an hour or so tonight, just until assorted neighbours arrive home from work.
Scrubbed the floor in the utility loo, muddy dog and muddy children have been doing their worst in their again! Surprised there's any earth left in the garden! And why oh why could nobody pick up the coats that had fallen on the floor, they've just had to go in the washing machine as they were covered in mud too, argh!
Diva - I'm sure that regular posters are well aware why you are up so early/late, I think it's lovely that you are doing all that you can for your friend xx

I, too, would like to join in expressing my sentiments for the fallen on Armistice Day; the TV footage has been so moving. For those true gentlemen who laid their wreaths at the Cenotaph this morning, the ninety years must have melted away. I wear my poppy with pride. I was told by an old soldier last year that, when the poppy first became the Remembrance Day emblem, each petal signified one of the fallen; by last year, each petal was worth sixteen lost soldiers, sailors and airmen. It makes you think just how many have been lost and how the total goes up every year. The Great War was to be 'the war that ended all wars' - sadly, that is still not the case.
(((Hugs))) to all who are remembering those lost.
