Morning everyone!
Blue skies here today, lovely and bright, but still nippy! Had a quick whizz round tidying and hoovering, kitchen cleaned and need to pop some more bread on, think dd2 dropping flour all over the kitchen earlier put my routine out a bit! She was meant to be putting it from the scales into a bag for school cookery, and when I turned around she looked like a ghost lol! Still on the bright side she's making scones today, finally something vaguely sensible! Probably find that they aren't allowed to cook them cos it's dangerous to go near cookers of something though!
Lunch today was cheese sarnies, with pickle for ds, hm choc muffins that they saved from last night for today, they're learning! Yoghurt, carrot sticks and a bag of crisps each - woohoo, big treat! My lunch will be some hm spicy split pea soup from the freezer and cheese on toast I think.
Dinner is turkey escalopes, reduced to 30p for 3 in Somerfield on Sunday, couldn't leave them at that price, even though I'm meant to be emptying the freezer! My dinner will be something I can take to work and heat up, prob some chilli from the freezer.
Didn't get on yesterday as spent some time with a friend, then made pizzas and pasta for dinner, and some chilli and apple pickle - wow is it hot! Want to make some more crab apple jelly with chilli, seems very popular and jars keep vanishing with visitors when they leave! So as it's dry today I shall grab my wellies and get out and pick some crab apples and get that going in a bit, oh how I love my jam maker, none of that straining juice overnight!
Right best get on and load up the bm and jam maker and hang the washing, then will be back for a browse with a cuppa, need some inspiration for meals, feels like we eat the same old stuff at the mo!

Not very OS here...
A while ago, I lurked on here and got the hat pattern for Save the Children. Then I got half way through a hat and lost the pattern. Sigh.
I emailed Save the Children, who in the nicest possible way said that they didn't want any more. I plan to donate the hats to the local hospital (but they are not pastel, so I hope they will be okay
) I will frog the half finished hat.
I have looked at the 'knit your square to give your square' thread, or rather, I have looked at the number of posts. I plan to try and read through, but does anyone have an idea of which page I can get an idea of what to knit for where? I do want to do something constructive.
I suppose I should post elsewhere, but I am confident someone will be able to help me from this thread.
The mats that I dyed seem to have dyed unevenly, or have patches of dye still in them. I think I will give them another rinse through, just to be sure.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Morning everyone
I always feel so moved by the two minute silence, it's such an important gesture.
Daisy chain -
hon, you are doing really well!!
Pippa S (they list the members birthdays on the main forum page at the bottom)
stefejb - welcome to the Philistines club, we will meet every fortnight and drink sparkly 4% pink wine. *giggles*
Kaat - sorry you don't like cherries, but actually not so sorry cos the trifle looks so delicious I am not sure we will want to share it after all..lol. Putting the dream topping on it tonight (OH LOVES dream topping and I never normally buy it, so he will be a happy bunny)
Just wanted to make something clear because I am worried that people think I am breaking the rules of the thread when I start it. At the moment I am living part of my life upside down...
I have a friend in America who is not well - so I go to bed early about 4 nights a week (around 10pm) and then I get back up again at around 3am and talk to him online til around 7.30am/8am when I go back to bed for a few hours.
My partner works as a DJ Th/Fr/Sat so he comes home around 0400-0430, and goes right to bed, and then sleeps til middayish when I am getting back up again too!
So, long boring explanation, but I had a pm yesterday from someone who seemed to think I was starting the thread under false pretences and it upset me a little.
Ok, sun is shining so I am really hoping my OH will be able to harvest the last of the chillis and peppers. My lodger seems to have settled in Ok though she is still spending a lot of her time after work at her old house as they don't complete til Thursday. I think she will be pretty emotional this weekend so hope I can be here with a shoulder and a nice cup of tea. (or fizzy wine :rotfl: :rotfl: )
I can hear the washing machine rumbling away and the house smells of fresh bread which is lovely, and tonight I am making a huge fish pie which will do us all for two days.
Poor Treacle had another fit last night. Horrible and scary as usual though it's been weeks since she had one. She seems fine today again though so that is good.
to all who need them and congrats to anyone who is celebrating today.

Marie - happy belated birthday to Ulick!
Donnygal - belated wedding anniversary congratulations!
Anne - happy birthday! Your party sounded lovely, hope you enjoy your meal later.
Well picked the apples and the juice is being extracted now, washing hung on airer and parked in the middle of the sitting room because it's really sunny in there, lunch eaten and gammon out of the moski, forgot I'd chucked it in there to bake this morning! So will slice and bag that when it cools down, then that's sandwiches sorted out for a bit.
I too gave in a bought the cheese strings that were on offer, mr nobody not only ate them but stuffed the wrappers down the side of the sofa!
Going to surf, listen to sherlock and may even fit in a sleep before work tonight! Hope everyone enjoys their days xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.

We will remember them.

Hiya Strangers
I've not posted on the boards in AGES but am roaming around reading everything I can as we are struggling badly financially and I need to get back to all things OS.
I've just spent 45 mins doing Martin's budget planner, the results are DEPRESSING to say the least. Lots of belt tightening to be done. I am looking for evening work at a supermarket or similar to try and help us out.
Following the madness with my cat (posted yesterday) I have run about like a headless chicken today pulling out the settee, hoovering behind it, cleaning the walls behind it and pouring shack and vac all over it afterwards before putting settee back. Dont know how but have ended up with a full bin bag of rubbish from behind the settee - where did that come from???
Going to put together a soup for the SC as am loveing my HM soup at the moment.
Anyone got any idea where I can get a cheap breadmaker kneading paddle replacement? I've lost the one from my Russell Hobbs Breadman Ultimate (now obsolete) and really want to get back into HM bread as the kids get through almost a loaf a day!!!!
Love to all,
