Just one last program if you wish give it a go
SPYWARE BLASTER
http://www.download.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html
Its similar in vain to the IMMUNISE feature in 'spybot', in that it protects you from various malware in the future (Doesnt get rid of it, just 'prevents' it)
UPDATE and protect everything you can:idea:0 -
moggy, a last bit of advice.....
after you have run ccleaner (do the registry scan first, delete anything it finds, then run the cleaner, delete everything again), go to system restore and create a new restore point. Then go to your C: drive, right-click and go to properties and click disk cleanup. It will scan for carp files (only quick, don't worry
). Ensure all in the results box are ticked, then Click options tab, and click to delete all but the latest restore point, then click ok, then ok, and let it do it's stuff.
Once disk cleanup's finished, go to the tools tab, defragment, defragment now...then restart the pc.
This should now ensure your pc is running optimally, with a nice squeaky-clean restore point if you need it....sorry if it sounds long-winded, it's not really

rik - well remembered about sb....I don't tend to use it on my main pc though...it can interfere with quidco transactions if you don't get it set up JUST right...thought it may be worth mentioning this aspect.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

To be honest, I didnt know there were any problems in that respect!
Set up 'just right' as in?:idea:0 -
rik - quidco have a section on the site dedicated to how you need to have certain products there's known to be issues with set up so's not to stop your transactions from tracking properly...I read through these some time ago (can't remember the details off the top of my head, have slept since then
), and thought to myself I'd save myself the bother,my security suite's fine without sb...still have it on the kid's pc though

If it is good against your kids - I shall keep it on for protecting against mine:D"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

Have done all the CCleaner stuff - and it really does seem much better:j .
Now I am going to really embarrass myself and say that I don't have a clue how to do a system restore point - although I have used the software repair wizard a few times, and it always seems to have created its' own restore points:o . And then., if I do that, what on Earth is my C: Drive and how do I go to it?:o See! I told you I was flaming useless;) :rotfl:"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
No worries moggy
Glad your all sorted
(Maybe you'll now be one step AHEAD of BIL in the future
)
Thanks for that - but I doubt I will get ahead of the s*d, he earns a nice fat salary doing software something in Aberystwyth:eek: . Mind you, it will be nice to let him see what I have put on here and done to the system;) and how well it is working now: I shall feel quite smug:D"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
