Target for this month - as little as possible. I have just spent £67 on a Tesco shop but hopefully that should last us until the end of the month. DH's wage was very low this month so I need to spend as little as possible.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -

Thats ok. I like a tidy kitchen so it is on the back of the larder door. But it helps me to try and keep organised.
Means less pieces of paper floating around etc.

my wage ( and im the only earner as i live with my dad who has just a state pension) was £1000 less this month than at the end of november - so i need -to pay out as little as poss.0 -
Cheers Kiwichick, you've been a great help
Lots of very useful info. I will speak nicely to my Mum this weekend, and see if i can get the 2nd freezer.
I am planning to try the slow cooker this weekend. It was given to me by my Nan, who bought it brand new, but never used it. Hence it is a bit old. Not a problem it if does the job, but worried about old wiring. I'm sure it is fine, but I would like to be in the house when i use it for the first time. Called me paranoid!!What's he building in there???
Debt at highest £30,450 (Dec 05)
Debt at lowest £9, 113 (Jul 07)
How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave :mad:0 -
Thanks Calley and Kiwichick. going to see if family have either a slow cooker or steamer they could donate. Then buy the other with my nectar points (10 pounds so far) that is just from surveys and ebay buys.
I don't eat red meat, and other half does not like chicken!
Anyway, there is a lot of info in there, so, thanks!

Haven't worked out a budget yet for this month - but have gone WAY off course over the Christmas period, not helped by the fact that DHs bonus was really low last month & will be low again this month (we could barely survive on his basic salary, so really rely on that bonus!)
As little as possible is the amount I am aiming for.0 -
I have been reading the old style board for several weeks now - lots of time off sick with a bad back gave me lots of time to reflect on our current debt situation. Have had big chat with DH and have agreed that big changes are necessary. Have been kidding ourselves for far too long that the debts ( currently in the region of £24,500 ) will somehow work themselves out.
I have been truly inspired by the osers and know that I can make it better. Sooooooooo.........I have set myself a target for 2 adults, a 16yr old, a 12 yr old and a 9 yr old of £300.00.
Have picked up lots of tips and hope that it will be a start.......................January Debt reduced by £765: :j and overdraft improved by £400.65 :j

we have a chest freezer sat in our shed outside. i couldn't be without it. we also have a fridge freezer indooors. we keep the day to day food in the indoor freezer and all the extra stuff ( ie , bulk buys ) in the chest freezer.
i think most members would be disgusted with the amount of food i have in my cupboards because i planning to go shopping next week.
of the top of my head i have 5 bags of sausages ( each have 20 in ) 4 packs of pies ( each with 8 in ) about 6 bags of frozen chips ( tesco mega saving 10p a bag ) loads of bags of frozen veg , waffles , smiley faces , turkey drummers , fish protions , pizzas , about 15 tins of baked beans , 9 tins of spaghegti , 6 tins of toms , 6 tins of kidney beans , 5 tins of rice pudding , 3 tins peas , 3 tins carrots , about 5 bags of flour , couple jars of syrup , sugar , millions of bags of crisps , loads of fun size choc bars this is just off the top of my head.
i don't have any mince beef tho. and i kinda feel stuck without this , as i can make so much.
but what i might do is write a list of everything i have then post it , so that i can eek out going shopping for as long as poss. i DONT need to go shopping , i just FEEL i HAVE to. which is wrong of me. alot of people survive on less so i should be more sensible.0 -
what a good idea,i spend far too much on food,im setting myself a £200 budget from the 30th dec to 30 jan,im looking foward to it!0

This will be the first month that I've joined the challenge. After Christmas the freezer and cupboards are full so I'm going to TRY and make it through the whole of January on £60 for grocery shopping (just for me) . Will even use the tins of tuna and red kidney beans etc which have been lurking around. I'm also planning to make a LOT of soup!" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
