I'm up for it this month. I've managed to stick to my £35-45 a week for 2 adults, 3 kidz and two cats (food, cosmetics, household) for almost a year now. IF I spend nearer £45 we are on a luxury, decadent, hedonisitic week! hehehe
I don't have a budget in mind for January but plan to spend as near to nothing as possible. I have a few bits left over from Christmas in the freezer and January is a short month for us due to the dates I transfered money to the current account so I only need to cover now until Jan 25th.
I feel primed and ready now for kitchen economy- anyone for nettle soup?Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£1200 -
Hi there
Hope you don't mind me officially joining in this month as well! Have read the boards and posted a few times and found them so helpful but first time joined the shopping challenge.
There are 2 adults and 3 kids plus as dh is vicar, a fair few times in the week when we feed others. For November and December I kept every single receipt over £1 and found that I spent £360 in Nov and (being more careful) £316 in Dec. I've done a very detailed yearly budget for everything - using MSE so helpful planner and as its a budget with no room for manouevre but also a realistic one I have budgetted £316 a month for food - I know I can cut down on this so this will be my chance to save. I have gone through my cupbaords and freezer and made an inventory and done a monthly menu planner. SO here goes.....0 -
Hello Rainbowkanga! I think the more the merrier and we will all be able to support each other. January is always a ggod month to start this as many of us still have lots of goodies in the cupboards and freezers but come feb the going gets tougher and that is where this board is so helpful. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Hi
After spending way too much on Crimbo my challenge for Jan is to spend no more than £200 on shopping (2Adults and 2 Kids) and £50 on petrol.
Been to Tesco today and spent £50.45 on groceries (tins, washing powder, packet stuff etc) - going to our local farm shop tomorrow to buy meat for the month. Am really trying to stick to budget this month as I am unexpectedly in between jobs.
Good luck everyone!:hello: :

I'm going to join this month too. Well actually I have just over 2 and a half weeks left till pay day so will budget for what's left till my next "month" (we're on 4 weekly pay so my months jumps around a lot!).
We're super skint this month, but have lots in so I have a budget of £25 a week for the next two weeks plus whatever is in my purse for the remainder of this week.
Got some essentials this afternoon and was undercharged so am adding that to my PMS. Not expecting huge amounts there, but can make a start.
