  • I have decided to take the plunge and join you. Two of us and a dog. The allowance is for all groceries and cleaning materials, petrol and travel. My aim is £300 this month and I am going to make a start by using items from my cupboards. I have a psychological relic from my childhood which explains my food hoarding instincts but I am up for joining the new age babes so minimilistic foodwise here I come!!!
  • Right,I've decided to join the challenge too.I'm going to try a budget of £200 for 2 adults and 3 kids starting next week.Just spent £38.99 on this week's food and household goods.I know this isn't a typical week what with all the leftovers,on the other hand I had to get a lot of non-food items today.Anyway I feel all enthused and am sure I can do it. :j

January is one of those months!!!

My target has been reduced to £250 - a considerable drop, but I have to find extra money to make my years budget work.

So, 1st Jan and doing it the Kiwichick way, leaves £6.06 per day. (£42pw) For a family of 6. Blinkin Nora! Well, will scourer the boards to find ways of making this happen.

This has come about, that for December, I only used £275 of a £400 budget and have really surprised myself and proved to myself that it is possible.
  • I too am joining this month...New Year's resolution and all that. Did try earlier in the year but failed miserably.

I have a budget of £260 for January in which to feed 2 adults, 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats and all the cleaning products and toiletries, so here goes.
  • sigh.....didn't meet my £250 budget for the second month running and ended up aroundthe £350 mark again (and second month of joining the challenge)...going to up it and try for £300 for all food/cleaning stuff/petrol - I seem to get halfway through the month ok and then it runs away from me somehow!!!

  • I`m going to try again, car has now gone so will have to shop online, then use local shop. My month dosn`t start until the 21st Jan, so will eat up until then. Done a meal planner and was thinking of shopping every 2 weeks, ran out of fruit and veg on a months shop.

Also going to try and get children to eat more of our meals, tried before and failed, we are all too fusey.

So 2 adults, 2 children plus all cleaning stuff, toothpaste etc plus nappies and pull ups for night time only, was thinking of £200, should that cover it?

Also. who do you think is best for online shopping, have tesco, asda and sainsburys in my area. Had probs with delivery of wrong stuff from Asda, and although shopping been ok from Tesco, had probs with site- when I wanted to change my order and add a few extra things,it would not let me and I had to cancel and do the whole shop again. Not tried sainsburys because of the price, but been told they are alot cheaper now?

    Thanks

  • Decided to give it a go too - although not sure how I'll get on - me and budget dont really go have taken a stab in the dark of £200 for 2 adults and 2 children 1 still in nappies. If I manage that I'll be over the moon but am really keen to try.

Long month for us as got paid on 16th Dec & not paid again until 28 Jan!

Already spent £150.49 but that was all my food & alcohol for Christmas and still have loads left-all cheeses and things with long dates or stuff that went into the freezer and hasn't made it's way out yet.

Not really sure how much to allow for food until I actually run out if the Christmas stuff-then see how much of the month is left.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas

I'm going to give it a go this year. I've allowed £120 for two adults and 7 pet rats. Hoping it will be a cheapmonth as I still have loads of food in the freezer and cupboards.
    January spend = £100
    Spent =
