I used to spend at least £90 a week for 4 of us ( 2 adults and 2 big teenagers) but have got it down to under £70, this includes cleaning stuff and toiletries since i joined this site but I aim to emulate you wonderful folk and do much better in 2006! :money:

I have to agree with the other posting PennyPincher that your meal planners seem to be really nice normal home cooked food which is what we like - not too keen on highly spiced or unusual foods ;)

I think I could do better by better use of leftovers( not giving them to the dogs! :o )

I will have lots of turkey and beef leftover so aim to make curry.Does turkey pie sound like a good idea? - don't like risotto.

Good luck to all in the January Grocery challenge :snow_grin

Hi everyone,my budget for January is £200.00 this is for 5 Adults,3 dogs and the cat.

I am planning to cut back as much as possible this month, any money saved is going towards jobs that need doing in the house. Good luck everyone.
  • Hi everyone, my grocery challenge for January will be £200. This is for 2 adults and 2 children, one still in nappies. Starting on 1st January. I would like to look at Penny-Pinchers!! ideas for meals, but not sure where to start looking. Can anyone help me?

Hello, I'm new to this and haven't a clue, so bear with me.

My budget is just for me and I reckon about £25 pw could cover food, laundry, toiletries at the supermarket, but since I have a lot in from Christmas, my grocery budget from Jan 1 for the whole month is £80.

Moved house on 15th Nov so totally lost track of food budget for that month. Definately overspent this month as the meal planning went out the window when we moved!! Need to get back on track so I'll be joining in Jan's grocery challenge. Think I'll set a budget of £70 p/w, this is for 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 kittens and see how it goes.

Count me in for this too -_ i had a half-hearted attempt at this last year, but new year, new start and all that. We are 4 - 2 ad & 2 children, and I am aiming for £200 all in. Would be interested to hear how people manage this - do you actually physically seperate the cash ie- money out of the bank /transfer in a sep. account or just keep a tally on the total spent against teh budget in a 'general' account??

Going for £150 for the next 5 weeks. Thats for me, DH, my sister and DD(1). Sis is spending more time at her new boyfriends so hopefully that is going to keep costs down!

I add up as I go around the supermarket,I jot everything down in a note book (just the price)its surprising how it stops me over spending,as soon as I am near about £40.00 I head for the checkout.Thats leaves me £10.00 for bits and pieces I might need through the week,I always pay with cash and I never take more than £50.00 with me.
