thank you KingL and soulsaver for replying
I think I will let the 1-yr account run until term and take my chances with the savings rates next April. I have worked out that if I took the electronic transfer and reinvested it in 5 days time, I would be £200 worse off by April. So I'll take my chances.
re: the 6-mth account. I guess I should take that one now, as it has already reached maturity and I am losing interest by the day. If I delay and argue the toss re interest, I risk losing money even if I win the argument.
thanks for helping me make up my mind!

I hv just initiated my claim. I decided to claim for my fixed rate account now because I just want to draw a line under this whole nightmare and move on. I know that the interest rate I will get elsewhere will not be as competitive but right now I really just don't care...I just want to be able to get my hands on my savings when I need them. I can now breathe a huge sigh of relief and look forward to Xmas.0

I believe the world wide web is available outside of the UK.
Like a lot of people I expect, I've got all my Icesave logins and passwords burned into my brains so I wouldn't even need to take paperwork with me if I were going on holiday.0 -
We are having a nightmare with this. On receiving the 2nd e-mail on Tuesday my other half tried to log in but used security details for a completely different account until he realised what he had done. He therefore ended up having to first try online then by phone to get the password reset. They give him the first characters but the rest is supposed to come in an e-mail which never arrives. They don't seem to have a clue how to sort this out despite several attempts. We've checked junk mail etc. and the first two e-mails came through OK. We were told they would call back either last night or this morning but no call so far. Anyone else having these problems? Any ideas on what to try? I've got ZoneAlarm internet security and Orange broadband. All he wants to do is keep the money in until maturity!0

I think if you want to leave a fixed rate until maturity you can ignore the whole log-in process etc. and they'll just write to you in due course with the forms for making a paper claim. Can anyone confirm this?
When you confirm the fixed term account your asked if you want to keep it to term.If you do you have to fill in the amount, tick the relevant box and you will/should receive a form in about 2 weeks to sign and return. You should also get an email to confirm your choice.I've already completed this process with my wife's account although I have not received my 2nd email as yet but I live in hope.0
