ICE SAVE - 2nd E Mail Received

The Government could have chosen to ensure that "no IceSave depositors will lose any money" as the Chancellor stated but they have not. That is unfair, they have been economical with the truth - blame the political masters not the people who implement the decisions.
No amount of complaining will get the Civil Service policy people and the Chancellor to change their minds now - I have have seen the way they work - logic and fairness are at the bottom of the pile.
Logic and fairness bottom or top of the pile are certainly out the window.
Fairness is for people to be covered upto agreed amount and not a penny over.
If I choose not to insure my house, come home and find it burned to the ground what happens....Darling comes and saves the day?
If I buy a 50k Porshe 911 with no crystal ball but insure it only covering it for half the amount then write it off, have I got grounds to complain, should I be bailed out, or even expect to be.
As said before reallity checks are required on this one bigtime, as something has to suffer in order to bail out the greedy people out there0 -
Hopefully now we will only see posts from those who have not received their 2nd emails.0

So if the total amount I am owed including interest that should have been paid up until November 14th is still under £35,000 then the FSCS should have paid me interest between Oct 7th and Nov 14th do you not think? But as you say I have had to lose that interest from Oct 7th to pay out date because of the extra cost of bailing out people with more than £35,000 with Icesave who placed it there knowing that amounts over £35,000 were not meant to be covered by the FSCS.
I disregard £50,000 as that was a lucky fluke and no one who had deposits with Icesave expected that it would be covered above £35,000.0 -

Do you also disregard those of us who had less than £16,000 who would also have lost out had HMG not stepped in?0 -
Hi guys,
While waiting for the second FSCS email to come I tried to log on my icesave account thinking that I was going to be unable to do so, but my log in was successful and I can now view my accounts with a column on the right that says "initiate". I am quite puzzled because I have not received the second email yet - unless it was blocked by a spam filter. [I thought that one can only access his icesave account and initiate the claim after the second email is received?]
Could you tell me whether you were also able to access your account before receiving the second email ? and if so, can you also see the "initiate" claim link next to your account details before the second email?
Please enlighten me!
Thanks0 -
My account showed the 'initiate' link on 7th November but it was not active until I received my 2nd e-mail on 13th November.
<Edit> I should add that it's obvious when you can apply for your compensation, as when you try to log in the first page that you will see is an FSCS information page, on which you have to click 'continue' or a similarly-named button in order to access your accounts and commence the claim process.0 -
Its been like that even before they started sending the first email
Try to initiate your account, you might be lucky but they usually only activate the compensation access when the email is dispatched. Will do not any harm to try - I do once a day."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620 -

Is that before you even get to the stage of hitting the "initiate" button?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
