Dear Customer
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding not receiving emails from Icesave or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Please accept our apologies for the delay in response and any inconvenience caused.
This has caused a considerable problem for many internet service providers. The FSCS sent out many hundreds of thousands of identical emails to the customer's affected by Icesave's collapse. This led to the emails being considered spam by automated third party email filters.
TalkTalk have contacted the spam filter operators to make them aware of the problem. Our customers should now be able to receive FSCS emails, however these can still be blocked by third party filtering which is out of our control. This is because the message may pass through several servers on it's way to our email server, and can be filtered as spam or 'phishing' at this point.
Phishing emails are a message which pretends to be from a trusted source, such as the FSCS, and asks for personal information. Because of the large volume of fake messages being sent, a lot of genuine emails from the FSCS have been blocked along with these, by third party spam filters.
If you still do not receive any of the messages, as I can see your need for this email is urgent, I would recommend setting up a new email address for this purpose. Use a web based email such as Google Mail or Hotmail and register a new address to give to FSCS. This will give you a very quick resolution rather than waiting for the spam filters to clear.
I hope this information helps.
If your enquiry is urgent please call our technical department on 0870 087 8777 (Calls to this number are free from your TalkTalk landline, calls from other numbers will vary). You can also visit our website at www.aol.co.uk/talktalk
Yours sincerely

Stick to using a googlemail address. I don't know of a single instance whereby anyone using gmail/googlemail hasn't successfully received the email whereas some have reported hotmail marking the email as spam.

Seems to me that TalkTalk are passing the buck as usual ;)

Leave things as they are and assuming that you don't receive the email just log on to your Icesave account once a day and click the initiate button to see if you have been authorised, all that will happen is that you will get a message telling you to try when your second email arrives such as this -:
If you do not see any options below then you are currently unable to initiate your FSCS claim. Once you have received your email notification please log back into your account and initiate your FSCS claim.
Or you will hit the Jackpot! :)

Just got mine, here's what it looks like:

Subject: FSCS Managed Payout for Icesave Customers - Invitation Email
Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2008 14:31:01 +0000 (GMT)

and when you've done it you get this:

Claim Confirmation
We have received your instructions for the above account. If your account was a fixed rate savings account and you have chosen to keep it until maturity FSCS will send you an application form to complete and return.
If you have another Icesave account for which you wish to be paid compensation using this process, please return to "view accounts" and repeat the process.
If you have completed instructions to receive compensation in respect of all your accounts, please log out. Please note that once you have logged out you will no longer be able to access your Icesave account. Therefore, if you wish to keep a record of this FSCS claim confirmation please print for your records.
Your compensation will be paid into your nominated account by an electronic transfer. This will take about five working days.
FSCS is pleased to have been able to help you.
Thank you.

:T Good luck for an early email for everyone still waiting.:T

How about opening a gmail email address and changing the email address in the Icesave website if it lets you?

That should work, I did it with one of our 2 accounts so there were different email addresses registered for them

I also then sent a blank email to the FSCS using the email address they provided for those who had not received the first email - to make sure they were aware of it - and got the standard reply which I acknowledged as per instructions.
icesave@fscs.org.uk

I will post should I get the 2nd email on the new address
An update to my message above - I received the 2nd FSCS email to the new email address I had registered. So if anybody worried about registering a different email address against your Icesave account - its OK it works.

Now have my compensation on the way  :T
