froddington I don't know if you've heard me mention the utterly useless SENCO at my children's old infants school? She was/is shocking. Now, I haven't heard that 'welcome to Holland' story properly before. However on my first meeting with said SENCO, she told me that she knew what it was like to have a child with a disability. (not having a child with a disability herself!
)
She said... and I quote...
"it's like booking a holiday in Barbados, really looking forward to it, and finding when you land that you're in Amsterdam. Now, Amsterdam's a nice place to visit, but it's not Barbados is it?"
!!!!!! I sat there with my jaw on the floor!!!   Thinking Holy Crap.... I've got to work with this woman for the next 4 flipping years!!!!!
Clearly she'd read 'Welcome To Holland' and retold it in her own unique fashion!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
So, thanks for posting the link... it all makes much more sense now!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:MMSSB Club Founder Member

Hi froddington.....yes I'm in Chichester, so probably not far from you:D“Cancer has my body but not my spirit, and I’ll continue to make jokes, not so much about cancer, but in spite of it” Irwin Barker0 -
Gryfon, Boddy - thank you. I'll try that.
Mudbath - spare bed ready whenever you are, hun!
Mudbath, Justamum - I found that very moving as well, there was such empathy between that young soldier and William Stone. It was lovely.
Dustykitten - why is it that I can't get MBTs to fit? If I wear my sister's they're fine, but last year I tried several different styles and none of them were comfortable. My sister warned me they were not easy to walk in and I would have to get used to them, but I was fine straight away. She forgot I had physio for Talipes for 8 years and had to do all sorts of silly exercises.
Toochoosey - I'm up for it, if you let me know when and where, but how will we know each other? Pink fluffy dusters in our button holes?Maybe if your DD is not good in town, Saturday is not the best day, but don't know what suits others. After all, I'm off sick at the moment, so my time's my own. And Valli wants to come too (but only if she can get a private jet)! But if anyone fancies Cwmbran, it's the French Christmas Market from Thursday of this week and free parking, don't forget.
Well done to all schools that participated. DD had a sarcastic word with the one person who continued typing at work today - an American! She'd (DD) already asked her boss if they were observing the silence and he mumbled on about it being difficult, in case the phones rang. She told him she would just go to the loo and several colleagues said they'd join her, so it was easier for him to let it go ahead! Pillock!
Pigpen - know, but I have one you may borrow!
Gunsandbanjos - well done!
Rach - how sad for you about your cousin.
Did you see the second part of the story with the 2 boys tracing their great-great-grandfather to Ypres. etc.
OK - how do I get the clever smilies?
Lil_me - what an ignorant individual! Glad others showed more respect.
Michelle - missed the bit about your cat, but am really pleased it's better news than you thought.
Soappie - get well soon, and look after yourself. These colds doing the rounds seem really nasty at the moment (I speak from experience. _pale_)
I'm off for a quick soak then bed. xDMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419
