Now I AM intrigued - when that was posted with the US speliing of PARLOUR (ie without the 'u') it was replaced by exclamation marks.
Why? Presumably it has a 'dodgy' meaning but (naive person that I am) I have NO CLUE...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Sarahs, Fly_Flo - re the washing machine saga - spot the difference .... the difference is, there's no man to argue with or wait for here. Think, decide, do
Still very impressive Soappie - I'm pretty lucky in that I make all the decisions like that as I do the finances and know whether we can afford it or not - had to order our last one out of my mum's catalogue coz we didn't have the funds - luckily she only lives about a mile from me and she's blooming great and did all our washing for us until the new one arrived... Hubby is happy that we have one - he doesn't care what it is (only thing he makes a decision on is cars...;) )Well I can't do much more decorating wise at the moment. Mr Tag is putting a third coat of the pink on and it is looking better. Still not sure whether or not I like it though. The colour changes depending on the light IYSWIM:rolleyes: Still DD says it's OK so I suppose I will have to live with it.
Tag, if you really don't like it after a while, instead of re-painting, try putting pictures/posters up to break up the big expance of wall (sure your dd will be up for that!) or you could try shelves with stuff on - sometimes it is just the pure block of colour that puts you off, I'm sure that when everything else is in there, it won't look so much and you will love it...Dustykitten wrote: »Mudbath, poohbear, vivv, diva, polka, toots where are you all?
Good point Dusty... How's the mission going??I've just got up - very unlike me, wondering if i'm sickening for something as i've got a really thick head and feel soooo tired! We can't get ill here with DH's exams so close! Hopefully it's just exhaustion from a long week.
Listen to your body Rach, take it easy - you may just be run down or overdoing it, take care hun...i have calmed down now and took DH a cup of tea and a sarnie ,, SS2 phoned up (as I left a message on his fone ) to ask what has he done and why did I leave a message on his fone ...(I said I would sell all his tools if he didnt come and get them ,) ooh I am a nasty stepmother, :rotfl:he spoke to his father
ps I forgot how friendly this thread is compared to others
Had to laugh at that - glad you've calmed down, I was like that yesterday - hubby went to me 'and you can stop with the mood - it's getting on my nerves...' big mistake, after raging at him, I said 'If you haven't got used to my monthly moods by now after 26 years, you never will' to which he replied, 'well, after 26 years, it's about time you stopped them!' then we both busted up laughing for some strange reason - might have been because we were outside tesco at the time!
And I agree, this is the friendliest thread about... we're all very proud of it and our illustrious leader who keeps us under control...;)LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
I knew it. Just phoned the catalogue and the first port of call is to contact the manufactures helpline number.
Catalogue company won't do anything until I have done that and if I don't get any joy with the manufacturer then I have to go back to the catalogue company:rolleyes::mad::mad:
And to make matters worse it's a bloody 0845 number:mad::mad::mad:

Ok I have a question...do you ever feel guilty about asking your other half for help? I know I shouldn't feel guilty as I'm struggling at the moment with this bad back but I do! I think it could be because he doesn't seem to think that things need doing so he'll only clear the surface for example when he's cooking.
So I feel bad when I ask him to do things as for things like watching the children, going shopping for me and doing various DIY jobs he's great! And now he's started back at work again. Maybe I'm just jealous that he can go to work and enjoy himself there whereas I'm stuck at home in a s**t heap
Any wise words for me? The doctor said to avoid housework but with three children and a big house that's fairly unacheiveable!
The thing is, if you do something serious to yourself doing housework, it will be a lot worse and they will have to do everything, so ask for help...
I don't like asking my hubby coz at the moment he's working a 15 hour day but he still does things if I leave them coz they bug him - like the dog hair in the hall he will get the hoover out, and he cooks and stuff too when I'm really busy. If he can help you with the big stuff then it has to be good for you and I am sure if you speak to him he would be fine about it...
Take care of yourself honey, xLBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

Don't feel guilty for asking for help hun - ever. It does them good to see that it takes a lot of effort and time to make things happen. You're not their Mum and they shouldn't expect you to be.
Lets see - DH and I have been together for 24 years and he is getting there - may take another 24 to get him fully trained :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
He's been a star today though - had to go back to bed after my HHI - this virus has really knocked the stuffing out of me. When I got up he had done the lunch dishes, made packed lunches for ds and dd, made tea and is now doing teatime dishes. He has also learnt over the years that if I don't do it, I'm poorly and he will muck in. Yip - am defo still poorly - am all emotional and sentimental :rolleyes:0 -
Woohoo I did it I did it:j:j:j
Flower your instructions were brilliant. Thank you:T
Well done you! And I can see why you want to move them - loads more room in your DS's ex room... Good luck for tomorrow and the final push...
Sarah - hugs honey, you seem to all be going through it in your house again and again - I bet it's driving you mad, but just take it easy and get yourself better soon...Hope you're OK soon...

Tag my sketchy knowledge of law (in which I have a qualification:rotfl: an A level) they sold it - it is their responsibility to replace/refund - that is a classic fob off. YOU have no contract with the manufacturer. www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
In fact I AM RIGHT (ha ha) here is the EXACT page you need.
It states the 'the trader must sort out your problem NOT the manufacturer'
http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/know-your-rights/electrical/
Click there - I would e-mail them the link...
Then I would threaten to report them -the catalogue company - to trading standards too.
And by this point I would NOT be phoning but writing (either snail mail or e mail) so I have copies and no one can tell me rubbish on the phone then deny what they said.
Because, of course, I am a Grumpy Old Woman :rotfl:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I had optimistically planned Roast Chook for tonight (nice FR one that will do us for AT LEAST 3 dinners and then soup) but I think it's going to be a late dinner.
No Roast Chook tonight - DH painted the oven housing and I had visions of the heat from the oven messing it up - besides, I've only just finished cleaning paintbrushes and the thought of prepping a full-on roast dinner was simply too much! So we're having meatballs in pasta sauce (HM and defrosted in the fridge as I'd planned to have this for dinner tomorrow) with spaghetti and I'll do the chicken thing on Monday.Obedient women are never remembered in History!

I started exactly the same on Tuesday - the upchucking and the other stopped after a couple of days but I am left absolutely wiped out. I know what you mean about being frustrated    but no matter how I fight this I can't seem to shake it.
Have just emailed my boss to say that I won't be at work M, T, W unless there is a vast improvement. Am going to go to docs tomorrow for a sick note - the last time I was signed off work was 18 years ago.
Try to go easy on yourself - hugs0
