A question for you all -

Nearly 4 months ago I bought an electrical item from a catalogue. This has now developed a fault. Now the dilemma is........... Do I ask the catalogue company for an exchange and have to go through the rigmarole of them insisting it has to be sent away for a repair etc etc. In the past they have never been particularly helpful on such things. Or, shall I just order another one and then return the faulty one within the 14 days IYSWIM?:o

    So what would you do?

Personally I would try option 1 first.

Tag if you do use option 2 just be aware that some companies note the serial numbers on items they send out, so if you send back the old item they will know straigtht away.

missed the original quote but has your LO ever sat in a horse?, DDasked for ages and took her to a school fete that had pony rides......., as soon as she sat on small horse she cried to get off........deleted stables no. from phone........she wanted to do it but didnt realise how high it was i wanted to cry as she looked so scared!!!!!

No she hasn't ever sat on a horse. She's still only 3 so might even go off horses before I ever get round to it!

Lady-Liberty don't overdo things. It sounds like they definitely need to get you in asap.

I don't have time to catch up on all the thread today. See you all on the next one!
  • I love looking at old buildings, in particular catherdrals and churches. The architecture is SO beautiful in a lot of them. When I was a child I got so fed up of being dragged round them and now I want to return to them armed with a digital camera!

Hereford Cathedral is amazing. Went there recently for lunch with the padre :p and then had a personally guided tour, but the "volunteers" are very helpful and extremely well informed.

Gryfon - I agree with everything DK said (oh wise one) and have another hug from me. Don't be hard on yourself, hun. You need to get yourself well and fit before you can start doing that sort of stuff again. Can you give the older two a mini flying list such as making (not changing) beds, opening curtains, setting/clearing tables esp getting breakfast things ready the night before? Maybe with a reward system if necessary. Anything that will lighten your load and make it easier for you to cope with day to day stuff. Have you seen doc about back? Maybe some physio would help. Hang in there. If you can get a bit of help for your back and DH actually notices what's happening and helps around the house where he can, it will not always be this way.

Not done much today really, apart from direct operations. :p DH and DS took the old tumble dryer out to the car and DH and I took it to the tip. (No, I didn't lift it out!) Went to North Som for DD, stopping for coffee at DB's around the corner on the way home, which gave DH enough time to finsh cooking our Roast Lamb dinner. (nomnomnom). He has also put up my new curtain pole in the soon-to-be-study so I will probably try to put the curtains back up tomorrow as it will make it warmer (it's a patio window) and done two base coats on the radiator wall of the dining room. He's hoping to finish and put the radiator back tomorrow night. Hope it doesn't get too cold this evening.

Hope you've all had a good day. No sign of the new thread yet?

    Evening all!

All ironing done - last load (today's dried outside washing) airing on maiden:D
Mediterranean Lamb casserole (I made up the name cos I put passata and oregano in:D ) and jacket pots cooked and eaten by me and DS as DD was at exOHs so he fed her:D - casserole cooked while I watched the footy - one goal for DS (missed that one:o ) and one assist (saw that one:D ) so they drew and as the team they were against (or versing as the kids round here say - to be corrected by be every time I hear it:rolleyes: - I think it comes from 'versus') were 3rd in the league and we were lower that was a good result:D .
I'm getting distracted by memories and need to get on with flying! By the way, hope everyone is well and welcome newbies/returners.So far today i've showered and had a lie-in :o My aims for the rest of the day are to do laundry, errands and tidy up

    Ask for a new one (four months isn't long)...or a refund...Contact Consumer Direct. There's a website.

ETA Apologies Michelle suddenly thought - you're wanting to do it while on leave...slaps forehead as is clearly as thick as some of them (points at 'joke' post down there...pointing down the thread)

Tag be sure if you go for the order new item option that you are going to get exactly the same spec etc. Electrical companies have a nasty habit of changing some detail be it colour, location/type of switch used etc. Also does the item have a serial number on as they know which check the returned item to make sure it was the one they sent out (second) time IYSWIM

I just want exactly the same item, but one that works properly. I know that some check serial numbers probably more so at this time of year. It's just the hassle of sorting it all out. It should be quite simple but having had problems in the past, I don't think it will be.

Still, I shall be a good Flylady and go for option 1. I shall email them now in the hope that it is going to be straight forward.
  • TAG - I would definitely go for the first option. There should be a standard 12 month guarantee, and the catalogue should not quibble over it.

Oh I have just had a hysterical e mail...

    here's a snippet...

it originated in the US so the spellings are American...

    ***
    They walk among us...

My friends and I were on a Lager run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. The cashier multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount... *

    ***
I was hanging out with a friend when we saw a woman with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain. My friend said, 'Wouldn't the chain rip out every time she turned her head?' I had to explain that a person's nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned...*

    ***
I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area. So I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands. 'Now,' she asked me, 'Has your plane arrived yet?'...*

    ***
While working at a pizza parlour I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding.
'Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces.*
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

Just got back from bowling, have put the kids teas in the oven but treating me and DP to a curry later because I think I deserve it. There was problems with the lanes etc which was just the start of it, taking a lot of children with complex issues and expecting them to turn take when we had to cram so many onto so few lanes was the next challenge, then the constant wanting, which I stood my ground with no matter what (kicked, punched, bitten etc) I think I did quite well!

Anyway, going to get kids teas out then will catch up with you all while I have a well deserved sit down!
One day I might be more organised...........
