  • Or if you feel the need for a little warmth, this is something I do for breakfasts usually, but would be fine any time of day.

Chop an onion, soften in pan, chuck in tomato puree, pinch of cumin, coriander and cinnamon and a tin of chopped tomatoes (a teeny dab of harissa or chile flakes are fine if you fancy some heat). Leave while you have a sit down. Crack a couple of eggs into the mixture, put a lid on and leave it until the eggs are set. Eat with yummy sesame flatbread (Pide) or toast.

I'd go for jacket pots, with tuna, cheese, beans etc.

my friend is a GP and she swears by a glass of flattened coke - coke in a glass, sprinkle small amount of sugar in and stir with a metal spoon to take out fizz she says it replaces blood sugars and salts. Personally, dont laugh...I like some lucosade and a rusk, my mum used to give me these when I was ill and theres nothing better :) Hope you feel better soon x

My mum was also told this by a GP, apparently gd way to get a gd whack of potassium especially. Im trying to give the dreaded stuff up tho, seriously its harder then anything else Ive given up. Usually when I decide to give something up I just go cold turkey and thats it my willpower is enough, but coca cola seems to be particularily evil:mad:

Gonna put something in the SC soon. I think I will make up a casserole as that will be full of the good stuff.

Thanks for all the replies. At least tomorrow I'm to my ma and pas so they can look after me :)

An old standby in our family is bread and milk when you are sick, just break up some bread into a bowl add hot milk and a sprinkle of sugar and let is stand for a couple of minutes... my Mum would feed us this by the bowlful when we had a sore throat or just didn't want to eat..

Me too - though my preferred sugar on it was Demarara!
I also used to love a cup of Bovril with some buttered toast fingers to dunk in it!
but, my preferred food when I am ill is mashed banana, from there I will graduate to banana sandwich and then to the milky bread or bovril.
and my beverage of choice is Lucozade for daytime and a nice cup of Ovaltine for bedtime! dont know what it is about Ovaltine but it makes me sleep so much better when convalescing - and I cant stand the stuff normally!

when I have cold I have either hot ribena or hot lemonade exactly what I had when I was little along with a spoon of honey if I have a tickly cough

I always have soup when I am am not well, have had a cold the last few days so had some home made soup and a Covent Garden soup 'Goan spinach and coconut' that I bought when from Sainsburys for £1 as I fancied something spicey

Feel a bit better today so have had salmon fillet with salad and some strrawberries to get some protein and vitamin c

Hope you are feeling better soon

I know this sounds really bizarre but I'm absolutely desperate.

Had a tooth extracted yesterday and have intense pain all in my jaw and gums and a massive gaping hole in my gum.

Normal food is really hurting me to eat as either it hurts to chew or pieces get stuck in the hole

I don't just want to be stuck eating soup, so can anyone suggest any foods that I can eat comfortably and still be nutritious

    Thank you in advance
