Parking Ticket Appeals successes and failures

Hi
Can anyone give me some advise. I parked in the Asda car park on Saturday along side another car. I then went shopping in the store. When I cam back I had a fine/ticket on my screen from Town & County Parking for £30 due to being parked out of marked bay! When I looked at how I was parked I was out of the marked lines. However when I pulled in tot he car park the distance bewteen my car and one alongside me was even or as you would expect in this type of car park. This means the car along side of me must have been over the lines as well as I have compensated for this when I parked my car. However on returning to my car the car that was next to me had left the car park. I don't recall seeing any signs in the Asda car park stating I would be fined if my car was over the lines/out of marked bay area, so can anyone comment on whether I have a valid case or not? Thanks

This is on the wrong thread, sorry, it is not a success or failure so that's why you've got few replies and a sarky reply! It's because the info you want is already here on this board telling you loud and clear that fake PCNs from private companies are a scam. And we tell people to ignore this scam every single day and it does get boring I am afraid - it's like Groundhog Day - especially when a new user has missed the sticky threads at the top.
All you had to do was take a step back when finding this irrelevant thread, and look for relevant info on the sub-forum this old thread sits on. Whenever you do a Goole Search and find any forum result, never just reply on the random old thread you stumble across. Always take a step back and read the current threads on the forum it sits on.
Try clicking on the sub-forum (see blue link above, 'parking tickets, fines & parking' which is at the end of Home>Forums>Home&Play...etc.). That's all you ever have to do, click on the bit before the thread you are on.
Read the stickies at the top - that's what they are there for. That's why we take time to compile an info thread at the top, full of updated preview pics of the debt collector letters that you and thousands of other scam victims will receive. And you will also have missed another thread called 'welcome, please read before posting'!! which includes a must-see Watchdog clip.
The info is there if you just go back to the actual forum and come off the random old thread you first landed on. Please don't be put off but please read the top sticky and the 'welcome' one.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Always appeal, I received a PCN for not parking within the lines in a disabled bay (I am a blue badge holder) I appealed to APCOA, (the private firm that runs parking enforcement on behalf of my local council) stating that if I had parked within the lines of the bay, I would not have been able to get out of my car due to a low wall sited alongside the bay as the bay in question does not have hatched area along side the parking area as is usually the case with disabled bays. My appeal was rejected and was told that no further correspondence would be entered into until a further 28 days had lapsed at which point the fine doubled to £50, I held my ground and after 28 days received a further notice to pay £50 and information on how to make a second appeal. I duly made a 2nd appeal supplying photos showing that I could not get out of my car when parked within the bay makings and won. I believe the 1st appeal is to the private parking company who just want your money, but the second appeal is to the council, so it just goes to prove, don't give up at the 1st refusal!:j0

If I read BBM's post correctly the ticket was given by ppc on behalf of council therefore an appeal must be made. Ignore it and the bill can get higher than the value of the car. If its a private ppc (and not council) then ignore is the correct advice.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Agreed were a private company is employed acting as council CEO's an appeal is always recommended.0

To everyone on this site,
In December I received a PCN as described from G24, looked like a speeding ticket, very official, £95 for being 15 minutes over the 2 hours allowed in Wickes, Cheshunt, but £75 if paid within 14 days.
Normally i would have paid up but, having seen a Watchdog programme some time ago I did the checking instead. I found this site.
I was not driving the car and was in fact at work that day.
I followed the advice to the letter. Initially I received the 'Your appeal has been rejected' letter, with the Oldham court case quoted. I responded again advising that I did not appeal as there was no contract with me, that I could prove I was elsewhere, and also dropped in a note about the time I was using to correspond with them, and that future correspondence would be charged at £50 per letter, also advising that a response would be considered an acceptance of these terms.
Considering they responded to my first letter within 24 hours, is a period from 23/12 to 8/1 with nothing further considered a victory?
I certainly think so, and so thank you to everyone who has put their story on here - keep fighting the cowboys
Cheers

Got a parking ticket from the local council for parking without paying and displaying, despite having a clearly displayed permit for that car park in my car window! My appeal letter below, which was responded to around 3 weeks later with a note simply apologising for inconvenience and cancelling the notice. No mention of why they'd tried their luck with a ticket. This is in a car park where I regularly have to stop people paying the machine on a Sunday (when it's free to park, but the machine still takes money without refunds).....
My letter:
A penalty charge notice was affixed to my [car model], registration [XXXXXXX], at [time] on [date], stating the vehicle had been “parked in a pay & display car park without clearly displaying a valid pay & display ticket”. There was, in fact, a valid [car park name] parking permit clearly displayed on the car windscreen. The permit number is XXXXX. The permit is valid until [date].
No offence has occurred and I therefore expect this penalty charge notice to be cancelled with immediate effect. I also expect a full explanation as to why a penalty charge notice was affixed to my car next to a valid, clearly displayed parking permit.0 -
Well done, you won't get many overturned council PCNs at the informal stage, must be a blue moon somewhereExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0
