Wild Boar Terrine £2.95, Beurre de Homard £2.95 Sorry to sound stupid but what is that? Is it something I can buy now if the BBE date is after christmas? I was hoping to buy stuff which can make a meal, as the indian hamper is going to be able to get a meal out of it, and the french hamper is for my godfathera nd the indian one for my godmother - their fave cuisines!

Pate in jars. I did check the dates before I bought and they are OK.

What about French oil or vinegar, Herbes de Provence, mustards and the like? My idea was to provide a few traditional French items with which DS could create his own dishes adding fresh ingredients.

I just Googled - gourmet french food+UK, found lots of different suppliers which gave me a few ideas of what to look for.
  • Ok thats fab thanks :) I dont think the french hamper will be as nice as the indian one, but I can give it a good go!

    Hi everyone

Halfcost have many many good deals for hampers and presents... there is also a red tote foldaway bag £1.99 also the 99p store website have a lot of cheap things
    xx

Have to say in my experience avoid halfcost like the plague, they managed to charge me for my order, and then loose it...they've been 'looking into it' for a month, won't actually deliver my order to me or refund my money while they 'look into it' they don't have a phone number and all e-mails say is that they will pass my request/details on to the relevant department.
    It's cheap for a reason!

I posted about these on the Home Bargains thread, but in case some of you don't read it, I found some great alternate hampers in there over the weekend. It's a large ice bucket tin. The ones I saw were blue polka dots or some kind of beer/lager ones (calsberg, maybe?). £2.99 or £3.49, depending what branch you were in! I think the Telford branch was more expensive. Warrington and Runcorn were cheaper.

Also had mini Dove shampoos for 19p each and full size Tony & Guy colour reviver shampoos (for red hair, brown and 2 shades of blonde) for £1.79 each. Sorry to the people who don't live near a HB! I don't either, but I went on a mini holiday with a friend up to Warrington & Shrewsbury and we took in as many HB shops as we could, as well as going to both the QVC outlet shops. Well worth a look, btw! I got 2 lovely quilt sets with cushions, sheet, shams and quilt for about £22 each. One was double, one king size. My friend bought lots of great card making & scrapbook bits for a bargain price. All spent out, but happy now... :)

Thanks Ruth_honey I have been looking for those Carlsberg type buckets and have just found out that there's a Home Bargains near me in Clydebank which I wasn't aware of :T

They've bought some of the old Woolies shops, I think, so they've opened several more HB recently. They're such a fab shop-especially for making up hampers. Hope your local branch has them in stock. If you can't see them, then ask because sometimes they hide them in odd places. Top shelf in with the gardening bits, on the floor by the booze, near the tills...

Will keep that in mind, thanks. Can't believe there's one as near to me, I just assumed there were none in Scotland and I see Home Bargains mentioned a lot on these threads.
  • anyone doing a chocolate hamper this could be good to add
