Hi Just wanted to ask some advice regarding a hamper I want to do for my mum for Mothers Day - I'm thinking of doing a Knitting hamper as she loves to knit and as she'll be finishing work this year for good (believe that when it happens - she's been saying it for about 3 years!) anyway she'll have more time to knit! Anyway so just wondered for those of you who are knitters what are essential 'couldn't live without'? I'm going to order some patterns off the Kemps website as they've got some on offer for 39p!!! but other than that I'm a bit stumped? Prob try and find a lovely knitting book as well & prob one for crocheting for beginners as she'd like to have a go at that... all items truly welcome pleeeeease...0

Just delved into my blanket box in comp.room...........loads of left over wrapping paper I can use, stuff I'm sending to charity shop and stuff thats ended up in the spare room. Got loads of stuff for hampers now and its mostly leftovers, unwanteds or my clear outs..........and another small shelf to do...............I could well have some cheap birthdays and christmas pressies..................lol And I can see the carpet in the room...........(and the fact it could do with henry the hoover over it:eek: )Mary

Stitch holders - notebook and pencil for marking off rows - tape measure - A4 folder and pockets for storing patterns - glass headed pins - big fat sewing needles - list of free pattern web sites - needle storage bag - cable needles - needle conversion chart
Lets knit has an offer for £3 for 3 issues for a subscription at the mo as well usually £4.99 each.
Can't think of anything else at the mo.
HTHOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hi Popkins, padingtondoo has suggested most things, just wanted to say that on our local market the wool lady has bag fulls of discontinued wool at reduced prices and box fulls of 2nd hand needles, row counters, needle gauges and crochet hooks etc which she sells for pennies. If you don't have anything like that try charity shops. Most things, if you can get them 2nd hand will be cheaper and it won't matter that they're used. Also you'll get more for your money so can put more in it. You may even find wool in there and patterns too.
Just a suggestion. I know when I started crochet I'd have never afforded all the size hooks I wanted at real shop prices.
If you're feeling crafty you could make her some stitch markers or even a knitting needle roll.0 -
misswhisper - our Henry is a little red chappy with a smiley face - OH gets on very well with him but I find him a bit heavy going............and OH has spent the afternoon messing about with a tele we had given us for the lounge so afraid Henry hasn't come out today.
I did however let the duster and polish see daylight as I cleared yet another set of shelves and added yet more stuff to my christmas/birthday hoard of stuff in the spare room..............lol
Books are now hanging on the wall and pictures re-arranged.
(books are those decorative sort with wooden front and back, leaves on them and hand made paper -too nice to use but with a plate hanger on the back and tied together with cord so they don't fly open when they're hung up they look nice -well I think so anyway...............lol:rotfl:Mary

Would it be mean to put my grans hamper in a card box, I could cover it with something. Then put a material trim around the top with some lace. Wins in 09 = A vodka cocktail kit thing lol, £150 Amazon voucher.0
