I can now only use Clairol Nice n Easy non permanent since I developed an allergic reaction to hair dye a few years ago. What started off as an itchy scalp got progressively worse and I ended up with badly blistered eyes and swollen lips (about 4 times the size of Angelina Jolie). I looked a proper fright and it lasted several days but I refused to give in to my premature grey hair and have been using Nice n Easy ever since with no reaction. It doesn't contain any ammonia or peroxide, the downside is it only lasts about 4 weeks. If you are going to use any hair dye I would urge you to PLEASE do a skin test first as these allergic reactions can be potentially very serious. HTH

I totally agree with this advice! I always considered the skin test a faff until one of my work colleagues had the kind of reaction you described. Shortly after that I read on the BBC website about a woman who had died from an allergic reaction to hair dye!

According to mother nature, I have a lot of grey hair. Yet currently my hair is a glorious titian ;) . What an excuse for being temperamental :rotfl:

But I was happy to be gray(ish) for an extra day while I checked out the results of the 'patch test/skin test'.

It IS worth taking the time to do it.

Thanks for this. I too have read a lot of horror stories in the past few days. my head is itching like mad and the top of my ear keeps weeping. I have 3 ds to think about - what is more important - them or trying to look younger. I am petrified to try again in case the next time the reaction is worse.

I think the old tarts are too wise to know that people get worked up, a fuss is made, nothing happens blah blah...as opposed to panicking :rotfl:
Hey - less of the old! :D

What IS different these days is that Mr B is cracking down on voucher abuse and taking huge amounts of points off people. That NEVER used to happen a few years ago.

And yet people on here still post their location, other information that readily identifies them, exact details of how much they've spent... etc.

I've said before that people really shouldn't be swapping vouchers on here (it's against MSE rules) and that also to me seems an ideal way for Mr B to identify abuse.

Sorry if that sounds preachy. :)

I'd like to point out that when we did all post on here we got told off for chatting so moved to the arms to chat and got told of for chatting there too!!! Thats the only reason we moved to another site and it wasn't to keep glitches or anything to ourselves we still post anything we find (well the others do i only go on for the banter lol) :rotfl:

You're not libras are you? (All of you)

I only ask because OH is a libra and he would see it in stark terms like:

    - chat on board x uninhibitedly

    or

    - not say anything at all anywhere

whereas I would see lots of other options alongside those, including:

    - post on topic on board x plus chatting on board y

tbh 'chatting' might not be the point of MSE (going by a number of stickies I've read on more than one board).

So I'll shut up on that topic now :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can totally relate to what you say ( I have two children).

I feel a little bit sick at times when I think of how I just slapped on the hair dye - ignoring the instructions about a patch test - just because I 'wanted a change'.

And I'll be honest - if it hadn't been for the fact that I actually saw someone who'd had an allergic reaction, I might still be doing that - even though I'd read the horror stories. :o

I know that weekends are the only time I can manage to dye my hair (did I mention I have two children? ), and it only takes a minute or so to apply the skin test on Thursday/Friday and then just keep an eye on it.

My (current) glorious titian colour comes courtesy of Casting semi-permanent - bought on the recent 3 4 2 in Boots. :D

Will my stocks last until the next offer?

Gosh Ive only been out a few hours and this thread has moved fast....lots of lurkers crawling out of cyberspace not wanting to get left behind!!!

Well i got the EA eye palette from Prima, really easy, didn't have to have consultation either :)

No illum mirrors, gutted:( really wanted one as a gift, they will have to have ea eye palette instead!!!:rotfl:

Used remaining till spits on make up sponges, wipes and nail kits, all free except wipes (£1.50 to pay).

Also got 342 vitamins and got a free tube of energising tablets that dissolve in water, also used 150 points from mailing.

I normally drive but had to use bus today due to having appendix op I can't drive for 6 weeks. I havn't been on a bus for 21 years and it cost £4 return, it used to be 45p when I last used them  . OMG I'm gettting old!

Have you only got one tube of energising tablets? I forgot this first today when I went to buy the vitamins, but just before paying, I went back to pick up 3 of them for my 3 vitamins, so you sould have 2 more tube of tablets with them, as it says something like free for every vitamins.
