Good luck with the aneasthetist tomorrow - not sure wether to hope that you get the op soon or not if you know what I mean.

Have been playing with the Remoska and made some sultana scones and half a dozen chocolate buns in it. Some bread rolls are proving ready to be baked later in it.

BM has prouced a rapid loaf and slow cooker has made a huge pot of pea soup.

DD(23) is coming home tonight from Oxford for a couple of days and I can give her her birthday pressies - yippee!!!!:j :j

She wants it t be a surprise for her sisters so trying not to let it slip!

Have arranged an opticians appointment for her for Thursday as we think she may need glasses.

After I bought new glasses a couple of weeks ago and her 19 year old sister got glasses for the first time a few days ago, my purse is whimpering at the thought.

Really looking forward to being able to spoil her for a bit as it is about two months since we last saw her.

Hugs to anyone who could use one.

Just about to set off to collect her so see you all later.

    Just saw your last post.

"Wooligans" are a bunch of MSE's or old stylers who knit for charity. It can be as simple as knitted or crocheted squares to make a banket or some baby hats etc for premature babies.

Mioliere started a thread called "knit a square to give your share!" It is on here somewhere, on the OS board.

Glad, I don't know if it's any good for you but you mentioned getting a decorator. I love decorating but can't do it anymore so I persuaded DH that we needed one of those Dulux Paint Pod machines, well when I say persuaded I mean insisted and I paid lol.
Anyway DH is useless at painting but he has just done a ceiling and walls and he was very impressed with the gadget thingy. It even cleans itself, wish the dog did!
They were on offer at B&Q last week £34 which is cheaper than a decorator. Only snag I can see is you have to finish off the edges but I might manage that. HTH
  • Money Saving Diva - I do hope you feel better soon. Perhaps having a friend staying will be a bit of a 'cheer up'. How are your knees? Perhaps you should ask Hester about paying guests, and I think your friend is very lucky to be staying with you. Will Treacle approve?

    Hi honey -

Knees feeling a bit better today finally, thank you, but I think I am nervous about my friend moving in actually. I am used to my own time and my own routines and I guess the change is making me a bit nervous. Plus I am worried about money too at the moment. Can't believe I find this amazing therapist right at the time she is leaving the national health!

As for Treacle - she is an evil cat! My friend (J) is slightly allergic to cat hair which means of course the minute she walks in the door, Treacle tries to sit on her lap. Last time she was here, Treacle laid at her feet and started playing with the hem of her skirt... She is wicked! Normally we just lock her out of the room, but once in, she makes a beeline for J.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.
  • Hello everyone. Really glad the kids are back at school, I get my days back again. Hope everyone is doing well. I have asked on freecycle for a bread making machine so hoping someone out there has one.

Evening all (come over all Dixon of Dock Green again-gawd I'm getting old:rolleyes: )

Pink tells me there is a dedicated Storecupboard Challenge thread to which I have hitherto been unaware- things just keep passing me by:confused::D  Anyway once I've tracked it down again I'll endeavour to get posting on it for those interested in the contents of my cupboards.

I've made a start on the breadcrumb mountain in the freezer with a Duke Pudding for the kids-it's a quick version of bread pud and super cheap.

I have not made the shepherds pie yet as i have had to take George to the vet ,
,He has had injections ,,wormer on the back of his neck for heart worms and all the others ,,but we dont know why he is coughing as much as he is ,,its not hair but we are still to give him hairball paste every day.. and brushing him as often as he lets us ,
,With him being a rescue cat we dont really know what he has gone through ,,but we are really looking after him now ..i dont want to lose him too
In the vets surgery he did growl at the vet I have never heard him do that for ages
He is not really talking to anyone at the moment so will wait until he comes to me for a stroke

  • Money Saving Diva - with other cats (not evil cat, of course, who is evil to the bone) I have found using a plant mister on the most concentrated spray will deter a cat and I have been known to pass the mister to a guest!

Kaat Lady - I do hope George gets better soon, he may be still missing his friend. Isn't it scary when cats growl!

    Evening all

Back to work for me today after half term. Wasn't so bad I guess

Got the DW and WM on before I left for work and plan to put the BM on in a minute or two. My food mixer died last week, not an expensive on, just hand held and I've had it for five years but I feel like it's the end of the world :rotfl:

All the talk of evil cats I can relate to - there are five here at the moment

(Not all evil.) I have taken in DSis's three, George, Chloe and Nanna Max as DSis needs some treatment in Manchester. My own girls Chardonnay and Fleurie have been quite accomodating in the circumstances, but Nanna Max is a grumpy old girl and George has an over active thyroid and postively yowls for food. I am cooking him "people food" extras - currently he has some chicken in the fridge and I am getting his meds down him with that.

He likes pate too, so your idea might help with the paste, Wanabee_Sybil, let me know how you get get on with Evil Cat
