    Morning all

I'm earlier on than usual today, but that's because I'm having a quiet day.

I did too much yesterday and knocked the stuffing out of myself, but tonight's dins is sorted, the 2nd half of yesterday's quiche. I may try and do a bit of cross stitch later if the pins'n'needles in my hands lets up for a bit.

I have GP appointment next week - supposed just to be a meds review, but I think I should tell her that I'm gradually getting worse (not that she can do anything, but, hey ho).

Betheebee I’d be panicking about having people to stay, too. I have a strict rule – the only house guests I allow are of the canine persuasion! LOL

Jayward and Sybil I hope your respective cats are doing ok today.

    Sybil,

Evil cat sounds like a real character, if I were you, i would try to ignore her crying for food, my little dog cries for food all the time when she is at my mums, but does not do it at home cos she knows she only gets fed once a day ;) , and when I do feed her she eats the lot. I am not sure how much cats need to be fed, (my dog is fine on one meal a day) but perhaps try to just feed her once a day, and then hopefully she will eat the lot.

Well done for getting out into town :T :T
  • Good morning chums ,
its very grey and a bit foggy at the moment here and I am just about to start my first 2000 word essay for college ,strangely enough about the weather affecting the Crimean War. Oh well it will keep my little grey cells working.I have had my porridge, so no more procrastinating, I must get on with it.
Craft Club this afternoon, where I will hopefully learn the joys of 'brayering' Nope, not braying like a horse,:rotfl: but its a type of decoration via a roller.
My youngest DD has given me an order for some cards, so that will keep me occupied in the grotty weather this week.
Tonight for dinner I am going to have some of my half-price salmon from the freezer, salad potato's, and some green beans, followed by stewed apples and custard. Its 4th November already, where has this year gone to, its true that the older you get the quicker the time seems to rush past.

Christmas is looming over the horizon, and I still have only half my presents. Still with luck, one good shop should sort that out. Its my eldest grandsons birthday in 10 days time and he will be 18 bless him. it only seems five minutes ago that I was taking him to nursery school. Now he is 6ft tall and shaves

I am still shopping from my cupboard at the moment and have no shopping foodwise to buy until maybe Friday when it will then only probably be milk, so hopefully I will come way in under budget for the November GC.
All thats left over at the end of the month goes into our holiday fund for next year. my DD,OH, and tribe and I are going to the Isle of Wight for a change next year .We have seen the house we want to rent , although its a bit pricey, it has everything that we want in it . My DD will really like showing her tribe where we all went when she was small. My late husband came from the island, and all his family had lived there for generations so we know it quite well. seem odd talking about next summers holidays already but we like to get booked up before Christmas.
Well enough babbling, time I got stuck into Sebastopol and the Crimean War.
have a great day everyone,<<hugs to those who feel low>>
    Cheers JackieO xx

:o Embarrassingly, I did not need to exaggerate about evil cat's behaviour, she is absolutely dreadful and anyone who has seen her behaving like that has agreed that I am being dreadfully bullied by something that weighs less than my handbag. She is relentless! I have tried sin bin (shutting her downstairs and once in the porch, where she sang and sang and sang until I surrendered), ignoring her (not at all easy) and even at one time I squirted water at her. When she was a kitten she would deliberately run onto the table where she was not allowed, and she would be squirted with water, and be drenched, but it never stopped her. The cat is relentless like a horror film!

I suppose I am a bit concerned that she is supposed to have medicine added to her food three times a day and I can see the word 'pate' looming over my shopping list which has to be trimmed to account for the porch roof being mended and the subsequent bill and the vet's bills which may or may not be covered with the insurance.

I don't think evil cat would considered lentil pate, but it may well be worth me trying home made pate, I suppose. But I have never made pate at home, and dear heart has a loathing of any food that may possibly contain liver.
 Small amount of cheap paste three times a day, if I am varying flavour, should allow for dosing and then the usual two teaspoons of (currently because on offer) Felix or sainsburys own.

    Morning all,

Needed butter this morning...DD4 used it in cake last week, I only ever use Stork so I thought that I had enough, was pleasantly surprised to find that value butter was only €1.57 in Dunnes, I have been paying €1.79 in Lidl so pleased at that, also got a pork steak for €3.06 so that is a cheapish dinner ( try our meat prices!) as I will stir fry it with lots of veg and maybe get an extra portion or two for freezer.

Eventually moved furniture from living room to computer room, it had been sitting in front of sideboard since kitchen was started...really miss Ulick being able to haul stuff around and keep forgetting to ask one of my sons when they call, so its done now and I can put more 'stuff' into it to keep it off the floor!

Thanks jayward, Ulick is doing well, but I am amazed at how much he seems to sleep, he did a little in the garden yesterday and is still asleep having been in bed at 9 last night. He is also cold all the time, which is the Warfarin effect, can't persuade him to wear a warm hat or gloves so have told him to freeze if he wants to...sympathy is my middle name!

Just general tidy up on menu for to-day, seem to do more and more tidying all the time but the more I do the more needs doing!

Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to any newbies to-day, congratulations to all those who are celebrating

    :hello: Good morning!

Catznine - I was so pleased to read your happy news yesterday!:T :T

Sunnyday - well done with the curtains! You can feel very proud of yourself!:T :T :T

Wannabe Sybil - Poor you, being bullied by a cat, but they can be dreadful, can't they! Your posts made me laugh out loud, you have such a wonderful turn of phrase, especially about beiing bullied by something that weighs less than your handbag:rotfl:

    Welcome Teaparty mum - I don't think we've met before:hello:

LameWolf - you're as bad as me. doing too much and then regretting it later. Make sure you get plenty of rest! (((HUGS)))

JackieO - good luck with the essay! I hope you manage to get the house on the IOW for next year.

Betheebee - what a lovely romantic surprise - and a medal too! (Richly deserved, I'm quite sure.) Many congratulations! Hope the decorating goes well, PLEASE try not to overdo things:rolleyes: :D

Penny_Pincher - hope you got on ok at hospital yesterday, thinking of you (((HUGS)))

Churchmouse, AussieLass, mrs_mix, shez, VickyA, Stefejb, Bargain Rzl, Catowen :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello:

Apologies to anyone whose post before mine looks as if I haven't "thanked" them. I went off to have a look at Hester's blog and when I came back it looked as if I hadn't pressed my Thanks button at all, and when I tried again the list of people who'd "thanked" the posts disappeared altogether, so I just have to hope that on your own screens you can see that I did thank you:D

Just done a load of washing up - there were so many things that couldn't go in the DW that I just did the whole lot by hand. I'm so thankful though that DD1 gave me her DW. even though the valve lets water in even when the machine's switched off, so have to remember to drain it every couple of days if it hasn't been used. It's still under warranty, but DD can't find the paperwork:rolleyes:

All for now, hope everyone has a good day.

Hi all. Had an early appointment today so it was all a mad rush this morning - still it will get me used to early starts next week when I cover in my old job. I just have to rearrange my own work which probably means working at home in the evenings.

Sybil - has your evil cat had his thyroid checked? A friend's cat was permanently starving and the vet diagnosed thyroid problems and sorted it out after an (expensive!) operation.

Dinner tonight is HM steak pie with chips and gravy at DH's request, followed by the rest of the Remoska-made rice pudding for him and a cornetto for me because I don't like rice pudding.

It's a bit gloomy here today but warmer than it has been so I shan't complain too much.

    Welcome to Teaparty Mum!

    (((Hugs))) to all in need.

Sybil, have you tried making chicken liver pate for evil cat? Also, I found that nipping my old cat's ear with my fingernails would make him stop being obnoxious!

The mention of rice pudding reminded of some I made last week. I bought flaked rice which I have never used before but thought it worth a try. It was so easy to make and used hardly any gas. I just put the rice and milk in a pan and let it come to the boil, then added sugar and then the phone rang. I turned off the gas stuck a lid on the pan intending to finish cooking later but forgot about it until dinner time when I discovered that it had cooked itself. Just needed warming a bit. Lovely.
Not much done again today, I'm a bit depressed with my ailments, Dr increased the dose of morphine but it doesn't seem to make much difference. I'm going to lie down and listen to the radio this afternoon.
    Hugs to all.
