  • Rog ~ Well not long for you then. I have got untill next Friday. So for my 20p cups of tea in work (the only thing that makes me look 'normal' just now) I will have to raid the piggy bank. Well unles I get some change on Sunday :j

Beanie ~ Ohhh I have never been overdrawn, I had an overdraft when I was young but I never went into it :A

    Sarah
~ He is back to normal. Still very scared though so isnt going far from home just now, but he is fine thanks. Off to the vet next week though :o :rotfl: How are you? You havnt updated your thread in ages...

    Toto ~ Thanks

Raph ~ It normally dosent bother me but my packs mean I have an extra sunday this month  So technically I am £40 down iyswim. However everything is covered :j I see your wedding plans are coming along :T

Ok I have just been thinking I 'need' to drink 2.5l a day. I have been drinking tap water for 3 days and its awfull. We live in a hard water area and the water tastes really old and stale. I have even done a blind taste test and each time I can pick out the bottled water. I know its not mse but I dont think I can cope much longer  I usually buy water bottled anyway.

Now I can buy 12l in work for £3.49+vat so technically a months supply will cost in excess of £20  Not very financially sound is it? So I have been thinking of maybe buying a brita jug? The jugs are £10 to start and the cartridges last up to 4 weeks (obvously this may be much less if I am using it non stop) then cartridges after that are £10 for two or £20 for six. I have looked at cheaper jugs but they are £8 and the cartridges are £7 for 3.

So although it will cost me £10 at payday (if not before if I have some change on Sunday) and then maybe £10 later in the 'month' it could save me effectively £20 each month then after (except when needing replacement cartridges). I could then filter it and bottle it for when I am not at home too, also saving me money buy odd bottles at anything upto £1 a time.

So what do you think? Sensible? Stick with bottled? Or get used to the tap water?

Thanks for all your posts :A

Beanie I have been refilling all week but its awful  Well the jug I wanted was this one. However if you buy the six pack of cartridges for £20 you get this one free  Typical isnt it :rotfl:I have only chosse Argos because little bro gets discount there. However the promotion doesnt end untill the end of July. So if I stick with getting the £10 one if I buy the 6 pack in June with my 'me' money I can then sell the free jug on ebay :j They sell from anything up to £13.

That is of course if I am defiantly getting the jug  Waiting for more opinions :D

Pap, I find tap water disgusting too!! I have a brita and find I can stretch a cartridge to 2-3 months (infact I can't remember when I last changed mine!!) depending on your water I reckon you could last this long too, the companies always exaggerate cos of course they want you to buy a new one each month!

I fill a bottle and put it in the fridge, I hate lukewarm water too.

Pap, how about going to tesco and getting the value mineral water at 13p a bottle for 2l? I dunno about the jug, we live in a hard water area too and I still don't think the jug makes tap water drinkable, but maybe that's just me.

  • Raph ~ Thanks, I guess they may last longer but didnt want to count on it.

Toto ~ Ohh I didnt know they did value water. We shop in morrisions mainly and there water tastes of bleach, I think its the bottles they use. However at £1 for 5l its dissapointing. I may look into that but Tescos are something like 6/10miles away from home so it will need mum as driver.

However Asda also do the same bottled water for 13p :j so technically I can get a months supply for £5. However the environmental effect is still swaying me to the jug  Even though we recycle all our bottles anyway. Maybe if I get mum to get a bottle from asda tonight to try?

Something to think about though, thanks :j

Hi PaP - yesterday was indeed payday :T :T. However I don't know how much I have earnt as I won't get my payslip till my next shift, which is tomorrow - unless I go and collect it today - but it won't be much as I haven't done much for them this month. Won't show on the account till Monday. :o:o

We live in a hard water area, too and I don't really like our tap water - we tried the BRITAS filter and it's fine - but the 'novelty' soon wears off and we 'forget' to buy tablets, so revert to the tap water. We find that if you fill a jug from the tap, and leave it overnight in the fridge it tastes better.

For work, I fill a bottle from the water chiller in the canteen - free of charge.
