Thanks redcar & isofar - Couldn't access my Icesave account earlier. Have now managed to log on, and like you, find that interest has been added to all accounts, including the fixed term ones, so it looks like we're all going to be refunded in bulk rather than having the opportunity to "hang on in there" at a good rate of interest until their respective maturity dates.

If you need to account for Interest received on an annual tax return, don't forget to access your account now and print off an extra statement showing interest received/tax paid for your tax files. There might possibly be difficulty in getting hold of this information at a later date if the Icesave site is subsequently shut down permanently.

I personally think the the FSCS are doing a great job, they have thousands of people to compensate and this is going to take time.
Everyone is going to get there money at the end of the day and some people I hear are quibbling about a couple of quid interest.
This thread is a good idea so that we can all feel that things are progressing but we must keep it as that and discuss the in's and out's of Icesave on another thread.
  • Hi all, I have a fixed rate A/C with Icesave. Interest for September was paid out, but is in limbo somewhere, and interest for October has been added to my A/C but in both cases it is much less than previous payments. Surley it should be the same every month?

Icesave payout process gets underway this week, says FSCS (3 November 2008)

The Icesave payout process will start this week for UK depositors in Icesave, the internet retail deposit business of the UK branch of Landsbanki, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme confirmed today.
FSCS is finalising arrangements for a system that means depositors of the bank will be able to receive their savings through an electronic payment into their established nominated accounts. This will happen in stages, with the first email expected to be sent over the next few days. FSCS will then begin sending second emails to customers, in phases, with a view to starting compensation payments in the second week of November as planned.
The second email will provide instructions on how depositors can log on to their existing Icesave accounts to complete a short electronic process allowing them to receive their compensation. The process is being phased to manage the flow of payments through the system and for security reasons. The process will only take a short while for depositors to complete and will enable them to see their money transferred to their established nominated accounts within five working days using the BACS system.
FSCS expects to offer compensation to the vast majority of depositors with Icesave during November.
Icesave customers are asked to note that no one from FSCS will contact them by phone or email to ask for or check their bank account details.
Any Icesave customers who do not receive their first email from FSCS by close of business on Friday should contact FSCS on 0845 7300 131 (Icesave enquiries only).

    Mine is exactly the same.

Don't forget that the October interest is only up until Icesave failed Oct 7th.
  • No email for me yet . . . anyone?
    :hello:
  • Let's hope the FSCS don't use Icelandic mail servers: they deliver mail to Icelanders without fail, but anyone overseas has to hope there's some capacity left over.
