FSCS/Icesave EMAIL WINNERS?

The e-mail is the correct wording of an FSCS-written e-mail - if you go to hearfrom.com and do something clever (hint: n=58), then you can view it.
Obviously this leaves an open question of whether the poster has actually received such an e-mail or whether they have just seen it on the website, but none of us can vary that fact, so I'm going to trust the poster in question.0 -

ah yes, so t's clearly a legit email.
As others have suggested, this is a soft launch, just to check the process is working ok.0 -

Wish they would soft launch one at my inbox! Its my birthday on Friday too and that would be the day my money came home if I got the mail today, how fitting!0 -
For people with fixed-term deposits, it is still not clear whether the 6-week wait for the form processing begins now or at maturity - this is an important factor for minimising interest loss and has been discussed in other forums. Phone calls to the FSCS have resulted in ambiguous answers, with around a 50:50 split in replies - half saying the 6-week wait begins from when the form is returned, the other half saying the 6-week wait begins at maturity. I would like to have the correct answer in writing before making a decision. Does anyone have any clearer info or know how to get it?0

This has to be legit as I have been able to log into my icesave account which it is stated you cannot do until you have received the second email.
I realise you will have to take my word for that but I also received the following email in my inbox at 10.38 today:
We have received your instructions for your account.
If you have more than one Icesave account for which you wish to be paid compensation using the FSCS depositor compensation payment process, please repeat the process for each account.
Your compensation will be paid into your nominated account by an electronic transfer. This will take about five working days.
If your account was a fixed rate savings account and you have chosen to keep it until maturity FSCS will send you an application form to complete and return.
FSCS is pleased to have been able to help you.
Thank you.

In fact I got two of the above emails - I guess the first was for the instant access account I have and the other for the fixed rate bond.0 -

People can log in to their account despite what is stated. What people cannot do is initiate the claim as it won't work until you get the 2nd email.I realise you will have to take my word for that but I also received the following email in my inbox at 10.38 today:
People are sceptical because you are a brand new member of the forum and not one regular poster has received their 2nd email.
If you are genuine then great. However what brought you here to tell us?
Perhaps you could give us some other info to see if there is any logic behind who was asked first?
1. Surname begins with?
2. Date you joined Icesave?0 -
I have been coming to this board for 4 years now and have always appreciated the advise and information I've gleaned. I only registered and posted now because I thought it might cheer people up to know the compensation process had started.
I don't know why I seem to be the only one whose received the email and been able to go through the process in my account. All I know is that I did and I have. I must admit I was quite concerned myself I'd been defrauded until I received the confirmation emails this morning
For your information my surname begins with M and opened an Icesave account in April 2007. I had £10,000 in a fixed rate bond and £17,000 in the instant access account so don't know if that has any bearing either. Personally the words "names" and "hat" come to mind.0 -

Right with you there Briskly. My "Bond" expires on Dec 22nd. For me the timing COULD be perfect if they begin the paper process early. Every day further from the 7th Oct could cost me if i take the money now. However, i think if i get an email this week to log in and withdraw, i will, as any remaining decent fixed rates will be going fast. Over the piece, i think its better to lose a month at 6.7% now, to gain another year at mybe 5.5% as opposed to 3.5%   in the new year.
I wasnt planning on another bond but given the rates carnage, thats what i'll have to do i guess. Under £50k of course.0 -

Cheers for this. If you elect to leave the bond until maturity, could you please let us know when you get the paper form? Good luck.
Thanks.0 -
First email says that the second email will give instructions on how to log on to your account to claim. Surely saying log on as normal is not giving these details? This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0
