Serena, what age group do you teach? I thought assessment for learning was a big thing already in all schools....we certainly have to include it in our teaching. We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Hi,
Hope everyone is well and welcome newbies/returners.
So far this afternoon/evening I've done some errands, spent time with my friend, washed up, emptied bins, put out wheelie bin, tidied up and done more laundry. I'm going to stay at my Mum's for a couple of days becuase she's lonely because my Dad's working away so won't be around until Friday. So I'll see you all then :wave:0 -
diva - hugs for you - hope you get something sorted out to help you real soon and then maybe you will feel more positive- I know what its like when the veins go into hiding - not good!
pigpen well done you getting the presies sorted - hugs for tiddles - must be quite strange/frightening for her to have them strapped - does that gel tube stuff work/help - its maybe too soft but would cushion them before they were strapped - what about painted toe nails too??
lil_me glad you enjoyed your day out and it took your mind off things for a bit.
summermoon thats great news - lovely aunty!!
frazz - you are truly mad!!!! LOL I can understand the need to make it look presentable but did you have to do the whole house - you are putting us regulars to shame !!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: please slow down and take it more slowly - it is more likely to stay a routine if you get into the habit of SMALL BABY STEPS!!!!!!!!!!! Well done all the same - you should be resting I hope!!!!!
soappieI was FORCED to go and do some flying!
denisenz good to hear the DSs are towing the line and well done you for persevering - good parents wouldnt do that!!!!!!!!!
valli - glad your today was ok and you will be finished tomorrow!!!!
toots xxPeace will be mine
could do better - must try harder

Thanks for the ideas :T
Those Usborne ones look good Lil me so I will look out for those, and a junior encyclopaedia is a greatidea thanks Pigpen - I can read him a section at bedtime as well if he wants. Just to clarify things we don't ask him to read at all and haven't for the best part of a year now on the advice of my mother who was an early years teacher before she retired. DS1 does try but he gets really frustrated and cross with himself which is why I am trying to help IYSWIM. I think part of the problem is that he has to win at everything and he doesn't like not being good at something, so rather than be poor he simply refuses to play at all - I am afraid he gets that from me.
Moam I like the pc games idea and I have ordered some magnetic words. He liked making silly/rude words when he was learning his letters so that has to be worth a try.
Anyway I shall now remove the dry uniforms from the TD ready for the morning and go and read in the bath. I have the new Good Housekeeping, the new Good Food and a couple of trashy novels from the library. Lovely.
Johanne - if you are about just wanted to send you another hug, hope things have calmed down a bit now and that both you and your Pumpkin sleep better tonight.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
machine is on with a pile of fleeces & jumpers that were cluttering up the airer that serves in place of a floordrobe in our room.
I've managed to catch up on the thread (didn't pay much attention to casualty though)
Toots – we are a couple of big kids! Someone at work today told me they thought I was about 23I’m actually 30 so was quite pleased with that!
Pigpen – hope DS’s hand is ok and that you haven’t strangled him! Let us know if you need anyone else to sort the lists for a while with everything you have going on.
AnW – lovely about the colour (posh word for flag!)
Lil_me – DH uses openoffice and thinks it is fine. He says don’t bother paying when you can get it for free!
Triker – hope dd is ok
Crafty - I can’t get the copying and pasting smiley thing to work either. Maybe it’s a firefox/ie thing? aha, sorted now thanks to TAG's advice!
Johanne- poor you not a nice way to tell you. Remember you are worth being treated well and for what it's worth i think you deserve better
Mudbath - sounds like a decent wii deal to me buti’m not really up on the deals at the mo. I got wii play with an extra controller cheap but that was a couple of years ago. I’d def go for 2 controllers and 2 nunchucks just to make things easier!
Valli – glad it has gone ok
I think i missed the wii fit links so if someone could pm me with the cheap deals i'd be eternally grateful as we'd like one...Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Another busy day at work, a grey day too as they have been interviewing for a new boss and we don’t like or have much respect for the person who’s a dead cert to get it!
Anyway back home for a quick cuppa then take doogie to the vet for a check up. Little porker has put on weight but I think its because she’s been taking steroids for her scratching so need to reduce those and increase her exercise
Cooked Chicken korma for tea (cheated and used a jar of sauce) and then started on the Krew challenge as follows
DD declined to help so pocket money will be docked and DS is out at Tae Kwon Do but says he’ll do his when he comes in, but OH has done something off the list !!!!!!!!!
Tuesday Twinkles - kitchen and dining room
level one
[strike]Clear and wipe work surfaces[/strike] - done
[strike]spend 15 minutes in a grotspot [/strike]– don’t want so sit in there on my own
Level Two
Sweep and mop floors – DS can do
[strike]wash windows[/strike] – too dark
[strike]deweb these rooms[/strike] - done
Level three
[strike]wipe table and get out a new cloth if needed[/strike] - done
Clean out your grottiest cupboard!! It doedn't need to be like that – weekend job mayhap
[strike]Empty and clean out your bins![/strike] – done last night
Extras
1. HHI – might later but then might just do shirt in the morning
2. [STRIKE]binbag dance[/STRIKE] – giving this a miss as rooms upstairs need serious declutters and too depressing to go in them
3. [STRIKE]Is it time to deflea the cats and dogs again? Don't forget their beds![/STRIKE] – dog bed done Sunday and bathed her last night
4. [STRIKE]Sit down with a cuppa and do NOTHING for half an hour[/STRIKE] – OH did this, he’s been there ages and then got up made the tea and sat down again, I think he’s been glued to the computer all day as he was on it when I left and on it again when I got home and it only got removed off the table while we ate and its now back again!!
Have also done the lunches for tomorrow already so am not doing anything else tonight apart from catch up on here
Back with replies in a bitMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -

Evening everyone.
Well no flying today as Ive been to work. Im shattered as I had a poor sleep last night.
Work much less stressful at the moment which helps.
Will try and catch up on some flying tomorrow but out most of the day. Im off Friday and Saturday so will do most of it then.
Johanne Big big hugs hun. Sending you and pumpkin lots of love.
Mudbath Glad to hear its not shingles. Thats good service from your doctor. How is the cat?
Diva big hugs for you and hope you find a suitable therapist soon.
Summermoon Thats good news about the cooker.
pigpen Hope you manage to work something out for Tiddles.
Valli Glad today wasnt too bad.
Had a weird experience this evening. Got a message from ex hubbys sister in law that my ex was trying to contact my DD. This was yesterday and I gave DD the message. She raved and ranted then contacted him today. He wants to send her some money but needed to speak to me as it will be paid into my bank. Weird to speak after all these years.0 -
Boddy I know what you mean about no flying because of work, end of another long and hectic day (just finished!!) so all I have managed to do this evening is to re boot the laundry, help OH to cook the tea, unload and reload the DW still better than nothing I guess!!
Also I have laid out my clothes for the morning and am now off to bed
G'night all
xxx:jGo hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0 -
oooooh boddy how strange that must have been. how long has it been if you dont mind me asking?
