Number 208 reporting in for the very first time since this challenge started. Ive just paid £130,000 off my mortgage, (paid out of savings and husbands share of sale of his business).
Do I need to send Zavarony a PM about this.

Thanks Jackie - in your one overpayment we are nearly up to the £500k already - that's brilliant - I bet you feel really good as well. Just think of all that interest you have saved!!!:T:T:TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks guys,
I was hoping to pay £140,000 however HM Inland Revenue had other ideas, so, I have to keep some money back to pay the tax.
I feel kind of numb at the moment, and i think its the fact that im now worrying about how we will manage thats taking the shine away from the amount I have paid to my mortgage.
I actually paid £134267.94, but the £4267.94 was a penalty fee because Im in a fixed rate, and as I was paying over the 10% that Abbey allow you to!!!!!!!
We figured that it would be better to just bite the bullet and pay the penalty.

Oh. PS My friend has just told me I was stupid paying that to my mortgage, she said I should have kept it in the bank, she says no one ever pays off their mortgage . Maybe I should direct her to this site and tell her there are many people like me who want to get rid of their mortgage.0 -

I got told similar. Let's see if those people still feel the same 10/20 years down the line when they are still shackled to their debt, while us MFWs are well and truly paid up and have been enjoying all the fine things in life - debt free.0 -

No Claire, we'll just be told how lucky we are

Claire, it works just the same as telling people they're lucky for winning the lottery - but you don't actually buy a ticket.
This time tomorrow you can all tell me how lucky I am when I win the Euromillions - I've bought 2 tickets
