    Morning! 274 checking in

£120 this month, brings year to date up to £470, nearly half way to my £1000 target. Hopefully in 18 Months time or so we'll be out of negative equity.....

  • My re-mortgage has finally gone through after weeks of hold ups. Unfortunatley all the money I had put aside whilst waiting for the re-mortgage to go through to make my first overpayment with was used to buy a newer car (3.5years old) as my old banger (it was 14 years old) died last month , I was hoping it would hold out another 12 months when I had planned to replace it.
I'm hoping to make an overpayment of £50 :o at the end of the month as I'm trying to rebuild some of my savings too.

Well done everyone on your overpayments :T:T

Made a small overpayment today of £267.89 for April. Hope to pay a little bit more at the end of the month as I get paid 3 times this month (fortnightly) so I think this is the extra wage. Im glad that I am able to overpay again but think future payments will only be £250.

My small savings are stacking up this month.

£104 from not paying nursery fees for the 2 bank holiday days over Easter,
    £1.50 from a quidco payment
£37.50 from a westfield health reimbursement of health costs

I wasn't expecting any of these things so no loss to put them in the mortgage. I can't wait to see what my end of month result will be. Hopefully good.

I always think surprises like this are the best part of being a MFW - if you didn't overpay with them they would probably be swallowed into your normal spends anyway !

We are still waiting for remortgage to come through. It's a right pain in the bum. We'll end up paying the thing off before the rest of the money comes at this rate. And the house will become a relic of the past. It's madness.....why does it take so long to tell you something we've all known for ages.

    Grrrr....building societies annoy me!

We've just had to do the same, likewise, not long after remortgaging and having the freedom to overpay at will, so know where you're coming from. Enjoy the new car.

    Happy driving!

Well, due to buying a newer car I'm not going to be able to attack the mortgage quite as planned as want to get the savings back to where they were. Luckily as it's an offset mortgage every little will help but I was also making some "irreversible" payments (well in my mind they are!) to the mortgage, these are now going to have to be reduced to the fixed overpayment covered by our standing order.....then again in true MFW Round Number OCD style I will try to round it up to £200 per month! ;)

Keep up the good work everyone! I'm off to do some surveys and try and win some comps to attack that mortgage! :rotfl:
