It has a positive balance, and I've used it before". You could describe it as an offset type all-in-one account. If it doesn't work, call them again in 20 minutes to speak with someone else. If that doesn't work, try a different time of day. Make sure you get your story straight before calling, and make it sound like you do this every month. Don't give up.
Oh no! I just made a payment (£1000:eek: ) at 4.30pm this afternoon with my debit card as I asked again and they said that is all they accept, I wish I had checked on here first!
Never mind though-I have made around £180 cashback this year :T so not doing too bad. Do you load your card with a positive balance before you pay? Do you still earn cashback that way?
I will try your technique next time I phone to make an overpayment and let you know if I get anywhere!
Thx for the info0 -
just been to barclays site to check our mortgage balance. we've kept our regular payment the same despite the falling interest rate - also made a £400 overpayment and (drumroll) £11 from Mortimer our faithful Mortgage Pig!
so as of today our mortgage stands at £91235.59. The interest will be added on at the end of the month so it will jump up a bit, but at the moment we should be able to cover that with our overpayment.
will pm zav so she can updateweaving through the chaos...0 -
£100.00 for me this month. Determined to make the £1200 target for the year. Keep it going everyone.0

Hi Zavarony
Can I join in if it's not too late?
My current mortgage is just over 54K, with maturity date 1.10.2012.
I aim to overpay and reduce the mortgage term. Currently monthly payment 1054, if I OP 1380 each month then will pay off the mortgage in Aug 2010. I have not made any OP this month.:D
Thanks

Hope nobody minds but I am going to wait until Friday to post my mortgage balance as I have £350 that has left my account but hasn't yet reached my mortgage.
Well done on the OPs; it's a really impressive amount for the first month of the year.

Payment reached the mortgage account this morning so can now update for member no: 112.
Dec 31 88654
Jan 31 83215 (and £3600 savings)
Total reduction: £5439
Interest will be added on on the 1st but I'm running a challenge to pay off my annual interest on a monthly basis so this will get paid off (hopefully).
Won't be keeping up this kind of level but will try my hardest!

£180 is very good. I'm just about to cruise in with £200. I always create a positive balance (partly because my credit limit is a self imposed 1K). The transaction is seen as a purchase so you recieve cashback of 1%. If you're realy clever, you can use your flexible mortgage to recycle 20K through these institutions and bag your maximum £200 cashback..... that is, if Egg haven't fully pulled Egg Money in the comming months.0 -

Hi
Can you put me down for a target of £1000 op for 2009, things a bit tight but do my very best.
Have already tried to up my direct debit by £25 per month but they wont let me, something about breaking the terms of their credit agreement. So I suppose if I just send in a cheque every month that will be ok. Do we just post op details on here as we do them?Home is the nicest word there is- Laura Ingalls WilderMortgage Dec23 £97,696 Overpayments: Dec23 £500
