  • As it's the first of the month, I've just made an overpayment to my Nationwide mortgage of 301.97

Why 301.97 - tops up my 898.03 standard payment to 1,200.00 for the month. So figures are:

Overpayments target / Month total / YTD total:

    3,800.00 / 301.97 / 603.94.

I'm at 15.89% of my own yearly target, compared to an ideal of 16.67%, so I'm very slightly behind target, but it's still early days...

  • Just got back from a week in New York to celebrate hubby's 40th birthday....WOW what an amazing city!!!

I saved for 15 months to afford the holiday because I did not want to go into debt and am very pleased to say I have just paid the change of my mortgage. A massive £460.00. That goes a long way toawrds my February total.

Hope you are all achieving well too

    Hiya everybody

Just been catching up on the thread. I'm absolutely amazed how well everyone is doing!

If you are wondering how the lenders are feeling about everyone overpaying their mortgages, I've found this on the Nationwide website.

Let's hope if times get tough they'll be sympathetic to those of us who are doing our best to reduce their lending risks.

A good month - paid a decent sum off from mum's estate and made all planned OP's.

    Jan 1st balance - 45167.54
    Feb1st balance - 42082.03
    Reduction 3085.51

    Have PM'd da boss ;)

Unfortunately every month won't be as good as that, although OH just given me a cheque for 2k which will clear in Feb.

Off to list 3 things on ebay

Well done everyone, a good start to 2009:D
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Hello all!

I'm a newbie and trying to get some pennies into savings before going ahead with the OP's. We managed 10% OP last year, £13,500, but need to prioritise savings this year (we have about 6K at the mo). Am really missing getting my OP fix!! Our lender (Abbey) wants OP's of no less than £400 at a time so can't even drip feed.

So have popped in to cheer you all on from the sidelines instead!

Good luck everyone and well done so far. Let's hear it for being MF one of these days!! :-)
