Here’s my overpayment for February:
Abbey minimum payment on 0% credit card deal: £53.44 (Deal closing)
Argos buy now pay 6 months later payment: £205.94 (Deal closing)
Halifax minimum payment on 0% credit card deal: £73.30
Ulster minimum payment on 0% credit card deal: £76.00
Bank of Scotland minimum payment on 0% credit card deal: £16.41
Mortgage overpayment: £936.91
Total mortgage debt should be roughly 18.2K though stoozing card closures will result in me ‘only’ offsetting 75% of my mortgage.
Bought a couple of sofas last month so repayment has slowed slightly. Other half has just owned up to a £700 Next bill which I’m going to take care of. I hate to see her paying storecard interest rates when I can save them for her. Complicates my repayment spreadsheet but it’s worth it. Short term target is to get everthing down to 17K by March the 15th. That gives me some room to pay 2009 annual bills (Council tax etc.).
Good luck everyone!

Hiya,

Thanks,

Didn't we do well for January! £64k overpaid already!
Well my regular mortgage payment has gone out today, which includes an overpayment of £70.13 (this rounds the DD up to £450) My mortgage savings have also earned me a little interest - only £4.23, but it all helps!
I've added these amounts to my sig, but won't pm Zav until the end of the month, as I'm sure I can find more OPs from somewhere.
Mortgage now stands at £21,046 - I'm definitely going to have to pay off another £50 very soon, just to bring down to the next thousand! Will only be a couple of months before those numbers start with a 1 instead of a 2, can't wait!MFiT-T5 #52 - aiming to clear mortgage completelyJanuary 2019: £19620 ~ November 2021: £0.00!0 -

Hi,
I am very pleased to inform you that I have reached my 2009 target of reducing my mortgage below £65,500. Thats £4,500 since the beginning of the year. (see sig)
I have received lots of luck this year with a massive reduction interest rates, an increase in my income, a tidy bonus in January and some change from my holiday all contributing to this massive achievement. Oh and no alcohol or takeaways!
Anyway whilst im full of motivation I will think about my new target and post it soon. Will PM Zav at the end of the month.
Good luck to you all in achieving your targets too x0 -
Reporting my first overpayment - I didn't overpay anything last month because
a) we completed remortgaging in the first week of January (and used an inheritance to reduce our borrowing by £30k, which I suppose is sort of an overpayment, but anyway...), and,
b) I was waiting until everything from that was all cleared and settled - solicitor's fees, refund from extra paid to old mortgage company, larger-than-usual first payment to new mortgage company, etc - so I knew we didn't need the money for anything else.
That's all in hand now, so I've just sent an extra £3000 off to the mortgage :-)0 -
We've just put in our first overpayment of the year, like blueberry pie it wasn't the only extra we put in as we'd saved £20k over the last couple of years to put in when we remortgaged, but it made us feel so good we thought we'd chuck in the interest from last year as well as our first overpayment29/01/07 - Took on our first home for £225k, mortgage of £200,700, reduced to £70,224.44 in 6yrs
16/11/12 - Moved to our forever home for £427k, mortgage of £270,999
MFIT-T3 #2 - Reduce (new) mortgage from £270k to £225k whilst renovating and with our first baby on the way! £265,654.56 so far0 -
