Looks like we will be ahead of our target for the year. Got the bug now!
  • I just wanted to report in that my overpayment for September was £279.65, taking my 2009 overpayments to £18,926.61.

I'm expecting October to be a very slow one for me as there is so much going on here at the minute.
    • Me with no wages coming in now.
    • holiday away for a week, so will cost us for the cattery and our spends, although we are not planning an awful lot - mainly walking and hopefully digging on the beach, and one day at the zoo.
    • DS1's 3rd birthday
    • my 4th wedding anniversary
    • home computer has died so needs to be fixed or repaired before i lose my sanity preferably.
    • needing to save cash to pay off the rest of our next hols next month, plus my car insurance
    • starting to buy christmas presents
I'm feeling so proud of myself this year though, so i just need to pay 'something' off to keep the feeling and i will be happy.

My aim was to OP £700 this year and with this month's OP I have taken it to £730 :j:j obviously I am going to keep going. With my final 2 OPs I will have paid £930, it will be a shame not to round it up so I am going to aim to take it to £1000 by the end of the year

NO 120 here. September overpayment of £701. Pay day is on the 15th of the month so I make the o/p at the end hence late payment. Well done on all the overpayments everyone.

Yup.... replace the 1.9K I just stole from my Stooze-pot to pay for a week in the Cannaries at half term. That'll give me something to do ;-)

Hi - No 167 Reporting in for OCTOBER
I have had to change my user name from TOPAZ to Topaz7 as for some reason the system has lost me.

    Here is my October Status
    Mortgage reduction in month £1,178
    Mortgage reduction YTD £17925
    New Mortgage amount £151,975

I should reach my target next month - 1 month early. Going to set myself a tougher target for next year

    Thanks

Well fellow MFW's, another months payment means my mortgage balance is now only £6,425. Two months to achieve my 2009 target. It's been great to see the "mortgagebalanceometer" winding down another thousand, 13k at the start of the year to just 6.4k. I look forward to the December payment when it will be just 5k.

I know when your mortgage is large the overpayments might not seem to make a dent in the mortgage balance, but keep at it because over time you will enjoy the sight of your mortgage balance diminishing to the day it is zero.

I started off with a £40,000 interest only mortgage in 1991 and the lightbulb came on about 3 years ago. Switched to a 50/50 Repayment and I/O and saw the outstanding balance reduce on a monthly basis. I increased my payment by 3 times in Nov 2007. Now I have £5,000 I/O and only £1,425 repayment.
