Looking forward to seeing that bottle of wine with the cork out ......
Don't worry. There will be a picture ;-) I'm planning on hitting my farm shop this Saturday for a mighty fine leg of lamb... with a cashback credit card of course!
Okay... scores on the doors.... Nasdaq (where my investment is) closed today with my stock properly up. If I sold now (which I can't as I have to wait until Thursday at 2:30pm UK time) I would be £213 short of being mortgage free.... not including being stung for Currency conversion. In the short term (two months), I expect the investment to rise by 5%. Can't decide whether to bail or not.
Three sleeps to go. Santa is almost here ;-)0 -

My stock on the Nasdaq was down today, but nothing to worry about. The £200 Cashback I'm on course to net from my Egg Money in February will cover this. I'm long on the stock and have the majority of my 'debt' on a credit card expiring in May. Plenty of time to hang on in there or bail.
Two sleeps to go.
Keep going, the lot of you! ;-)0 -

Morning all!
MFW no212 checking in for the first time in several months.
I took the summer off OP'ing so that I could live a little/have a holiday etc
However I did also use the summer to rearrange the mortgage to my advantage so the interest rate is much better. :T
But there lies the issue. It doesn't make financial sense for me to directly overpay any more. Instead I'm putting the money into a savings acct that beats the mortgage interest rate. It's not going to be touched for any other purpose though, I'm determined.
Can I still be in the MFW challenge?
If so, I have another £1000 payment to report.0 -

My mortgage deal of 6.09% with Northern Rock ends on 1st June 2009. On or before the 9th of November, I WILL become mortgage free.
Woop! No longer a MFW! Been waiting to reply to the above post for a while.
Five weeks ahead of plan. Well…. actually 17 years and 10 months ahead of plan. Today I only have self created credit card Stooze debts and have placed a limit order on my share investment. I even came out of this with enough to pay the remainder of my Council Tax for the year. I’m keeping the mortgage with a small balance as I have an outstanding complaint, which fingers crossed will result in a small amount of compensation.
So that’s it! All that’s left for me to do is wish you all well and end with a picture.

MFW #254 reporting in for September. Overpayment of £1,500 this month, £8,259 for the year with a target of £9,000. Would have been more but mortgage company said I was overpaying too much. Strange as I had checked with them some months before to ensure it was OK and they said it was! This means my excitement last month at being below £70,000 this month was slightly misplaced. Never mind, next month we go back on to the variable so I will be allowed to overpay as much as we like. We will go below £70,000 then and hit our overpayment target. Oh the excitement! So far: Council Tax downgrade success and £1,000 refund | Mortgage redemption refund £25.00 | Lightspeed £65.00 | Pigsback £30.00 | Quidco £130.00 | Topcashback £405.00 all courtesy MSE
