  • Hi all, #169 reporting in.

I'd previously set up an automated overpayment to top up my standard mortgage payment. This month we have again made a £201.97 overpayment. Target was to overpay by £3,800 in 2009. I'm going to be about 1k short of this target, but that said, I'll be happy to achieve £2,800.

So, it's now looking like this for October:

Actual payment / Actual YTD / Actual Percent / Ideal Percent

    October: 201.97 / 2,119.70 / 55.78% / 83.33%

Zavarony - I'll PM you with this.

As we have only two months after this, thought I'd mention the mortgage free in three - take 2 challenge:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1402631

Slightly longer than this 12 month challenge, but it's still open if you want to express an interest in it. It starts in December.

    Thanks,
    Financial Bliss.
Mortgage and debt free. Building up savings...

A further £562.34 overpaid this month bringing grand total since 2nd Feb to £6562.56 :j

Home improvements take precedence this month so overpayments will probably be at the bare minimum of the £220 approx that we make each month automatically........still not bad when I thought originally that we'd only manage £3.5K!

Still on track for the MFI3 Take 2 challenge start balance of £95K.

Well done to all you other MFWs. :T And especially Cheery's news :j

    LM :)
    :jMFWin3T2 No 20 - aim £94.9K to £65K:j

289 here! Wow eveyone is, making great progress :) Well done cheeryoleary that's amazing!

Another payment of £1128 for me taking the year to £4454. I think I'll be a little short of my target but I started later than I wanted and I've been adding to a saving account to overpay a lump sum at the end of the mortgage term in April........or maybe use it towards a deposit for somewhere bigger!
Mortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000. Blog link http://beautifulorpractical.blogspot.com/2010/07/oh-this-is-all-new.html :j

Another £185 quid, total now... £3,880 this year. Do we get to include the overpayments we set up by overpaying, if you get my drift?

You can include whatever you want - mine is the offset total, others count what they save into ISA's to pay off at a later stage.... its entirely up to you - it it after all your money :D

    Morning all! :p
MFW no212 checking in for the first time in several months.
I took the summer off OP'ing so that I could live a little/have a holiday etc
However I did also use the summer to rearrange the mortgage to my advantage so the interest rate is much better. :T
But there lies the issue. It doesn't make financial sense for me to directly overpay any more. Instead I'm putting the money into a savings acct that beats the mortgage interest rate. It's not going to be touched for any other purpose though, I'm determined.

Can I still be in the MFW challenge?
If so, I have another £1000 payment to report.

    Hi talana,

Please stay..... report your savings if they are for the MFW in you to pay later....

Woop! No longer a MFW! Been waiting to reply to the above post for a while.

Five weeks ahead of plan. Well…. actually 17 years and 10 months ahead of plan. Today I only have self created credit card Stooze debts and have placed a limit order on my share investment. I even came out of this with enough to pay the remainder of my Council Tax for the year. I’m keeping the mortgage with a small balance as I have an outstanding complaint, which fingers crossed will result in a small amount of compensation.

So that’s it! All that’s left for me to do is wish you all well and end with a picture.
