MFW #203 checking in!
My August overpayment has left my account, yet another £250!
Numbers are:
Target £3000
August overpayment £250
Overpayment to date £2000
This means an predicted interest saving of £437.62 since Jan 2009 until my MF date of September 2014, My £250 pm overpayment is more than covering the mortgage interest (£243.96), which means the regular payment at the 1st of the month has become a capital repayment!
Continuing improvement on the investment front means that overpayments plus the endowment plus my investments should leave me with a contingency of £650 (last month £nil!). As I wrote last month, this assumes that interest rates stay unchanged. It needs to be nearer £2500 before I’m comfortable with it, so overpayments will continue.
Hopefully, the recent upturn in the stock market will also have had a positive effect on my endowment although I won’t change my estimate for maturity until next year.
As promised, I’ve started my diary to stay focused on the final objective. I’m not a prolific diary writer, so hopefully if I have something to say it will be significant (well, maybe just from my point of view!).

A bonus £3000 paid off the mortgage today, and the DD put up by £100, so new target needed, say £5000, and new monthly amount of £185.
Yay!
Can you make ovepayments to Northern Rock on a credit card, does anyone know, to get the cashback??Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Zavarony,
No. 167 reporting in. I havent updated for a while - just thought I'd give the August update
I have reduced my Mortgage this month by £488, so thats £16,337 Year to date, and my mortgage now stands at £153,663.
It looks like I will exceed my target to get to £150k by the end of the year - so I will have to see if I can think of a new one. (possibly £147.5k) I want to completely pay it off by the end of 2013, when I will be 45 - but I have not yet managed to work out how yet.
Keep up the good work everyone
