Another £500 gone, but £1000 fees added so have removed that from what I've done. Time to put the target up again - can't believe how well we're doing this year!!!

Again - not an overpayment as such.... Applied for and received the new Vigin Money credit card (fee free 0% balance transfer) with a...... wait for it...... 18.6K credit limit for 9 months from opening. Will soon be no longer paying interest on the outstanding 6K mortgage. Which is nice.

Wow that's handy! Do you have an offset mortgage? I wonder if you could look at a 6 month fixed term savings bond with some of that credit to maybe boost its potential further;).

OH and I have both just received letters from Santander offering us (as A&L customers) their new Santander Zero credit cards- fee free even on overseas spending and withdrawals- very handy... but also it has a fee free 0% balance transfer- an opportunity not to be missed. One reason we have exceeded our MFW target this year is credit card balance transfers put into ISAs last year- even though the second sixth months didn't earn us any more than the original fee. I will be checking out the current stooze possibilities this week.:D
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.

Northern Rock 'flexible' mortgage. It lets me park whatever spare (borrowed) funds I can lay my greasy hands on. One phone call and the money is back in my current account withing two to three days. I'll see if NR are still willing to accept payment by Egg Money. Last year, I managed to earn cashback this way. Every little helps.

I know this is slightly off topic, but when doing balance transfers, do you know what would be accepted, and can you just get the cash, say into your bank account?

95% of available credit limit would be accepted in the case of Virgin. If you get the cash directly into your bank account, I understand there is a handling charge so..... BT from Virgin Money to Egg Money, ask them to transfer the positive balance to Egg Savings, then withdraw to your choice of bank account to avoid the handling charge.
  • Hellooooo everyone i will be recommencing my overpayments as ive paid some bills now.Im looking forward to getting back on track and getting that balance down:mad:

Bonus time so overpayed mortgage this morning with £1022. Called Northern Rock and asked to pay by Hybrid Credit Card (Egg Money) which had a positive balance. "Is that like a prepaid card where you have to load the money first".... "yes"..... "okay, no problem, Sir". That amounts to another £10 cashback due in March from Egg Money for 5 minutes work.

    Carry on.
