Hola no. 277 with my May OP of £300 and this brings my year to date total to £6349.85.

OP's will be slowing down now as trying to build up some more savings and pay for 2 holidays!

Keep up the good work everyone-this thread keeps me going with my OP's!

    zav,

is it possible to have a link near the start of the thread to the running total figure ??
Sorry to be cheeky and not sure how much work this would give you to set up - I am presuming that it would then be easier to notify at month on how much the combined total is ??

Thanks for your efforts on our behalf, we all appear to be keeping you very busy indeed !

    Hi All
    114 reporting.
Target for the year was £250.00, but with the interest rate so low, I have reached £201 overpayment with June's payment, so will be on track to overpay £500 for the end of the year, so reducing mortgage even further.
Have to pay for holiday at the end of July so no additional overpayments til September other than current £40pm.
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!

215 reporting in and made June overpayment of £260. It was supposed to be higher but need more spending money for our holidays this month. Hopefully when I receive my refund for the unused car tax this can be added to June's overpayment - time will tell.

Sent PM to zaronry stating my overpayments for May and June to date as well as stating that my original target is being reduced to £3400 due to circumstances.

Major milestone achieved this month. My outstanding balance is now below £10,000. Started off with a £40,000 interest only mortgage in 1991 and the lightbulb came on about 3 years ago. Switched to a 50/50 Repayment and I/O and saw the outstanding balance reduce on a monthly basis. I increased my payment by 3 times in Nov 2007. Now I have £5,000 I/O and only £4,300 repayment.

Next milestone is at year end when balance should be £5,000. :j

Well done! We started with £90000 in 1992 I/O and gradually changed the proportion to RP when we realised endowments were not going to perform as anticipated. Finally changed to full RP mortgage 2 years ago when we took a 5 year fixed rate deal at 4.94% - it seemed like a good deal at the time! Anyway we have been paying the maximum overpayments allowed since then and now our balance has gone under £28K. I am hoping to save hard next year and make a lump sum final payment in June or July 2010 in time for hubby's 60th birthday! Wish I had started sooner! But the end is in sight! Keep up all the good work everyone - you are doing amazing things given the difficult times we are all going through.

You're right, everyone wishes they started sooner. Though not always easy when starting out as most people can just about afford the mortgage in the early days.

However, the benefits are clear as that old mortgage is gradually whittled away. At the end of the year I will owe 5k, but plan to make 6 further payments to also complete in June 2010.
